“Practice” is a storyboard following the trial and error of a lacrosse player. A few of the topics have been melded into this work including the end, the scream, and the sigh. The narrative contains a more humorous spin on these topics and is easily relatable to anyone and everyone who has been driven to repeatedly practice something over and over. They must fail before they can overcome. I will attempt to create a interesting way of creating action and motion in the limited amount of images I have to work with. The execution of “multiple selves” on a particular image that shows the amount of times the individual has addressed this problem.
The scream will be portrayed after the player has had a tough time shooting the ball and will use the multiple selves technique to show him slamming his stick on the ground, screaming, and having a tantrum, all in the same shot. The same method will be practiced when the player finally shoots a perfect shot and has a similar reaction, but in a more positive way. Alongside the entire main narrative, there is a smaller B story going on in the background. The player’s friend is waiting for him to be done so they can leave. During this waiting period the viewer sees the friend face palm, check his watch, and other cliché signals that indicate impatience.
The sigh, as well as the look, can both be used to tell a story with no words at all. This is a valuable tool that I will use to inform the viewer of the relationship between the two friends, the waiting friend’s impatience, and the struggles of the protagonist. The narrative will end when the player finally completes a successful shot and the two friends essentially ride off into the sunset, however, the sunset in this case is just the exit of the practice facility.
