This abandoned building on an abandoned farm was a photographic studio for the farm woman. On a pitch black night, I took my camera and a flash light to make an attempt of created a flashlight photograph. Not completely successful, but a lot of fun and somewhat interesting.

Elgol - Lawrence Cornell’s spiritual home.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear that Lawrence passed away, suddenly and unexpectedly, just a few days ago.

Lawrence was a well respected, engaging and inspirational member of our Flickr community and will be dearly missed by many. Although I never actually met Lawrence in person, I didn’t need to; his charismatic images spoke so well of his narrative, his love of photography and the locations he frequently visited. The banter we had between us, him frequently encouraging me to take ‘proper’ moody landscape images and me encouraging him to look to his more ‘reflective’ side, I valued immensely.

His passion for landscape photography was so evident in his images of Elgol, a location that was so dear to his heart and where his emotions spoke loudest.

I can’t think of a better tribute than an image of his beloved Elgol, with the iconic view looking towards the Cuillin across Loch Scavaig. An image that I took on my last visit to Skye, a location I persevered with having seen Lawrence’s emotive images over so many years.

So long Lawrence, you will be missed. Thoughts and prayers with your family and close friends at this terribly sad time.

Each time we travel in the St. Lawrence River region, I am in awe of the cloud formations. I usually see some pretty interesting skies on every visit, like this roll of white cloud over the river.

I went to Bristol on the summer Saturday 7th August 1965 and spent the morning at Lawrence Hill. There were only a few steam hauled holiday trains that year, so I was photographing any moving steam. This was 92215 without a front number plate, and if the phot quality was up to much you would see that the number had been chalked on. I did manage to catch the loco rods down.

This is a super wide panorama of the St. Lawrence River east of Quebec City in Montmagny once the river gets several kilometers wide before it empties into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The Appalacian mountains are seen in the distance across the river. This shot was done with 32 side by side shots with my 135mm Pentax prime lens.

Portrait of Lawrence Lee, stained glass window artist, in front of one of his windows at the Church of St Mary and St Peter at Pett, Sussex. Lawrence Lee was 100 years old in September 2009. I met him for the first time this January and with his son Stephen, took him to see this window. A couple of local historians were there to greet us and were very interesting in meeting Lawrence who was happy to talk about his window and the process of making it.

From a sign in the church: "The stained glass window represents St Nicholas with a lifeboatman on the shore; in the background thre is a somewhat abstracted lightship which is symbolic of the Church Universal. St Nicholas is holding a model of the building which was formerly a Rocket House, but now used as a Church and known as st Nicholas, Pett Level.

The Artist is Mr Lawrence Lee ARCA of New Malden, Surrey."

Lawrence has a not very fancy arboretum but it is a great place for cloud shots.

Getting ready for this year's parade, Dec 2, 2023. Lawrence, Kansas

St. Lawrence provides a haven of peace and tranquility in middle of the busy city centre of Winchester. Tucked away down a little side alley it is easy to miss but of historical importance.

The only surviving parish church of Norman foundation within Winchester’s city walls, St Lawrence is referred to as the Mother Church of Winchester. When a new Bishop of Winchester is about to be enthroned in the Cathedral, the first stop is at St Lawrence Church, to be presented to the Mayor, clergy and citizens.

There was a church on the site before the Norman conquest, and it was incorporated into William the Conqueror’s palace as the royal chapel. Both were destroyed by fire in 1141, during the civil war of Stephen and Matilda, and St Lawrence Church was rebuilt in about 1150. The church has an unusual square design, and also a fine 17th-century ‘king-post’ roof.

The church was badly damaged by fire in 1978 and after restoration it was re-opened in 1980, with seating for about 120 people.

Went to Carden Alvar to see Golden-winged Warbler as they apparently nest there. I did manage to see a few Golden-winged and as a bonus I also got to see and photograph this beauty. This Lawrence's warbler is a hybrid between a Golden-winged and a Blue-winged warbler; their song pattern is more like a Golden-winged with slight variation of the buzzy notes. The other more common and famous hybrid is Brewster's Warbler. Carden Alvar, Kirkfield, Ontario

Bristol Omnibus vehicles at Lawrence Hill depot in May 1968.

The only vehicle I can identify is the single decker - PHW 919,a Bristol LS5G/ECW B45F,fleet number 2829,although at this point it had become a training bus, numbered W121.

It's been about three years since I last saw a Lawrence's Goldfinch. They love fiddleneck flowers (Amsinckia).

This past Spring I was fortunate enough to meet @rayhennessy_wildlife for some warbler shooting. It was late morning when I finally made it out to meet him. If not for the rain it would have been too late to shoot. The rain made conditions rough for shooting, but outstanding for warblers. When this Lawrence Warbler showed up on the set, it was like the sun came out and the rain stopped in terms of complete awesomeness. Quite honestly, if not for Ray I would have never known what we had just witnessed in terms of a rare find.
