Further to my previous post of the ruined church of St Lawrence, I took this photograph to show what the ubiquitous influence of Sir Lionel Lyde fulfilled. He commissioned this church around 1775 and it was built in 1778 on his land in Ayot St Lawrence, with the entrance facing his house. It was designed by Nicholas Revett, a Suffolk architect who was clearly passionate about classical buildings. The church was to serve the local villagers and also as a mausoleum to Sir Lionel and his wife, as seen by the pavilions on either side of the main structure. I personally think it is an abortion. He was a trader in the Caribbean and the church was undoubtedly built on the proceeds of slavery. As seen by my previous post, he desecrated a consecrated building to satisfy his own vanity.
Petite-Rivière-Saint-François is a little towin in Quebec, Canada, along the Saint Lawrence River. It is home to Le Massif ski resort, a beautiful mountain with gorgeous views. I got away for a few days to ski. I always think I'm going to be out there taking more pictures but the skiing just takes over.
Hope you like it.
POAY heads west past the former Lawrence station with the clock tower in the background. MEC 7523 leads MEC 619 west with a good sized train in tow. This power came off of that days WAPO, but fortunately they left their third engine, MEC 7489, leaving a matched set of Pan Am blues for the power.
Hi winds sweep from the west as an Autumn gale makes its way through eastern Ontario. 90% of the leaves are down now.
All the limited snow is removed by this open water that moves and releasing snow all year. Previous snow photography on shoreline where the water not move stays still and access snow. Trees mostly negative re snow and that distant shoreline also black not catching snow now.
Amazing sky clouds over St. Lawrence River!!!
An homage to Messrs Lawrence, Gosport photographers for over a century. Their earlier work, capturing the spirit of our town and the bustle of the harbour in the last years of Queen Victoria's reign, inspired my own early forays into the artist's life in 2008.
Thomas Edward Lawrence, later known as Lawrence of Arabia, was born in Gorphwysfa House in Tremadog (Gwynedd). Lawrence (1988-1935) is best known for his involvement in the Arab uprising against the Ottoman Empire during World War 1. The dramatised narrative about it was being filmed by David Lean in 1962 with Peter O'Toole in the leading role.

The church of St Lawrence, Mickleton, is situated at the foot of the Cotswold escarpment just below Hidcote and Kiftsgate. Part of the church dates back to the 12th Century and is a Grade 1 listed building with many interesting historical features. Mickleton is the northernmost village in Gloucestershire.

Right now Southern California is the perfect temp and is beautiful thanks to all the rain igniting desert blooms. Many of the hillsides have turned green and are covered in flowers. Each day I see hundreds of pink lady butterflies with a few monarchs and swallowtails. I had a fun time watching some Lawrence's goldfinches, a California specialty, among all the yellow flowers.
For a brief moment little Lawrence Yard might just have been the location of the coolest gathering of power on the entirety of the vast CSXT network! Four wide cab GP40 variants, each in a different scheme, congregate in the former Boston and Maine facility which is now CSXT property thanks to its 2022 acquisition of Pan Am Railways.
A pair of former Pan Am GP40-2Ws of CN heritage are at rest in the yard, MEC 516 in PAR blue and MEC 507 in its retro 'heritage' Guilford scheme which it was repainted into in 2020, the last unit ever freshly painted as such. To their left is CSXT's three car geometry train with its assigned one of a kind unit, CSXT 9969, an ex MARC GP40WH-2. Double heading with it is MBTA 1129, a rebuilt GP40MC (rebuilt from an original CN GP40-2W like those beside her) dressed in this one of a kind 'cranberry' heritage scheme.
The CSXT GEO train was being returned by the MBTA after spending two a half days testing on the commuter rail. Due to the fact that 9969 is not equipped with ACSES PTC equipment it could not lead on the MBTA lines.
The T measures and tests its lines quarterly, but with no equipment of its own has always relied on Amtrak's Corridor Clipper car for this work. For whatever reason Amtrak is no longer able to support this so other arrangements were made. An Ensco truck twated all South Side lines except the Worcester Mainline and the MBTA/Keolis made arrangements with CSXT to borrow their train which was used to test east from Worcester, and the Grand Junction Branch, and all the former B&M North Side lines. With the T in the process of building two GEO cars of its own it is unsure if this will ever happen again or if this was a strictly one off occurrence.

This abandoned building on an abandoned farm was a photographic studio for the farm woman. On a pitch black night, I took my camera and a flash light to make an attempt of created a flashlight photograph. Not completely successful, but a lot of fun and somewhat interesting.
