Thanks for your comments and faves, they are truly appreciated.

According to my research this is a very rare backcrossed Lawrence,s warbler, even rarer than the not so common traditional looking Lawrence. Here,s a few links from my research.

Third link is very interesting.

They say there is a lost stone circle on Lawrence Field, or it could just be a fortuitous arrangement of natural boulders. Either way, once the mist rises from the moorland, it is a place where few are willing to linger long.

Lotto for me today, was in shock to see one !

Another beautiful bird I found on our recent trip south to Morongo Valley. I like how he looked back over his shoulder and the soft green background.

POAY heads west past the former Lawrence station with the clock tower in the background. MEC 7523 leads MEC 619 west with a good sized train in tow. This power came off of that days WAPO, but fortunately they left their third engine, MEC 7489, leaving a matched set of Pan Am blues for the power.

First day out with a camera since the knee surgery. A challenging day with some bad surprises and some good surprises. The Lawrence's was a happy surprise ending.

Half changed my plans this morning, half didn't and ended up somewhere in between. but managed to catch some lovely light and colour on Lawrence Field with Mother Cap in the distance.

Right now Southern California is the perfect temp and is beautiful thanks to all the rain igniting desert blooms. Many of the hillsides have turned green and are covered in flowers. Each day I see hundreds of pink lady butterflies with a few monarchs and swallowtails. I had a fun time watching some Lawrence's goldfinches, a California specialty, among all the yellow flowers.

Several of these goldfinches appeared to be feeding on the flowers of Sweet Alyssum, Lobularia maritima. This one took a brief break on this perch. Just behind the bird you may notice a few rain droplets as it had begun to sprinkle. (This species is not common locally and these birds were discovered at this location several days ago.)

Another look back to 2019 and the only time to date I've photographed a train working the obscure Lowell Hill Industrial Track. On this Pan Am local LA-1 took two units out the line bracketing two loads then returned later with two empties and both units on the east end elephant style. But the switch moves made for some interesting scenes as it appeared like two trains were down in the tight confines working Whittemore Company.

The church of St Lawrence, Mickleton, is situated at the foot of the Cotswold escarpment just below Hidcote and Kiftsgate. Part of the church dates back to the 12th Century and is a Grade 1 listed building with many interesting historical features. Mickleton is the northernmost village in Gloucestershire.

On a beautiful Saturday morning, I received a timely heads up that UP's MTPKC would be leaving Topeka with a Spartan Cab EMD on the point, and although I was a few minutes behind it, I knew that I could catch up to it by Lawrence. Here, with a wave from a friendly crew is the result of that quick trip to the east!
