The government of Guyana and FAO launched the 38th Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean.
The event was attended by Guyana's Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, Guyana's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hugh Todd, FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean, Mario Lubetkin, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Guyana, Yeşim Oruç, Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Carla Barnett and Gillian Smith, FAO Representative in Guyana.
The Regional Conference is held every two years and brings together the governments of all 33 Member States of FAO in Latin America and the Caribbean to establish the regional priorities of the Organization for the next biennium.

The UQ Library hosted the launch of Belvedere Woman, the latest book by our Patron The Hon. Ian Callinan AC. He was joined in conversation by fellow author Emeritus Professor Michael Wilding and Manager of the Fryer Library, Simon Farley. The book is set in Brisbane between the 1950's and 2000 and is a story about how snobbery ruined a young woman's life. Thank you to the book publisher Arcadia for providing the refreshments.
