My third replacement laptop from HP. The ordeal is over, but I still hate HP.
I'm loving this laptop so far, though <3 unlike my last one, the wireless card works great and this one is super fast.
My husband's IT work means we have lots of random computer guts around our house. I found this one on my art desk. My husband says it goes to a dead laptop. This picture was taken for Macro Mondays "x" theme.

$500 Laptop Challenge!
I travel a lot for work and I have often thought it would make my travels more enjoyable if I had a laptop to take with me. We already have four computers, including a MacBook Pro (my wife's), so I could not justify spending a lot of money. I thought it would be interesting to see what I could get for $500 on Ebay. Of course, I could go out and buy a new Vista laptop, or get work to provide one. But, the goal is to make my travels more enjoyable, not more frustrating.
My original thought was to find a 12-inch iBook or Powerbook. I really wanted to find something that looked as close to new as possible. I quickly found that the 12-inch laptops are very popular. And my attempts to find one that met my specs brought the price over $600. It became a matter of compromise in size (14-inch vs. 12-inch), age, features, speed, and condition. After several failed attempts at 12-inch iBooks in good condition I finally hit pay dirt. The laptop I ended up bidding on was a 14-inch iBook G4, with 1.2 gb ram, and 1.07 GHz. After a vicious bidding battle I ended up winning the auction but exceeding my $500 target by $20; close enough. The ebay description described the condition as excellent.
Here are pictures of my new iBook. The description was accurate, this thing does not have a scratch on it. I was able to upgrade it to 10.4 (Tiger) and am very pleased with the performance. My kids think I am kicking it old school; but I guess that's ok.
Anyone else care to take the $500 laptop challenge?
