Lanka Ashok Leyland Bus

 

This photo is a true case of the most important camera being the one you have with you. I was sitting and having lunch at a restaurant near Ravana Falls in Sri Lanka. And there were monkeys all over the place. Well. This one climbed into a tree and had lunch too. And I was able to zoom in and get this photo.

This photo is taken around 10 years back in time. Old train material moved slowly along, giving travelers lots of time to enjoy the amazing landscape of central Sri Lanka together with fellow passengers. And when the train halted, you could communicate with passengers on meeting trains as well...

Galle Fort, in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument, which even after more than 423 years maintains a polished appearance, due to extensive reconstruction work done by Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka.

 

he site has been inscribed as a cultural heritage UNESCO World Heritage Site under criteria iv, for its unique exposition of an urban ensemble which illustrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th centuries.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village, 13 km (8.1 mi) northeast of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. Pinnawala is notable for having the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. In 2011, there were 88 elephants, including 39 males and 49 females from 3 generations, living in Pinnawala.

L’ensemble monumental de Buduruwagala est constitué de sept statues sculptées dans une paroi rocheuse de 20 m de haut sur 100 m de large.

 

Les bas-reliefs sont généralement datés par les spécialistes comme étant de la fin du ixe siècle – début du xe siècle, dernière période du royaume d’Anuradhapura.

 

- au centre : Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara (le Bodhisattva de la compassion),

- à la gauche de cette figure peinte en blanc se trouve une femme qui aurait été son épouse, Tara,

- à droite, selon la légende locale le troisième personnage représente le prince Sudhana.
