Was ich euch hier zeige ist sicher ein großer Kontrast zum Vorbild, wie ihr das von mir gewöhnt seid, vielleicht ist mein nächstes Bild auf poetry and truth wieder ein Landschaftsfoto, vielleicht ein Tulpenbild ...
und ich merke, ich habe mich vertan und es doch in Dichtung und Wahrheit hoch geladen, jetzt lass ich es so.
Ihr seht einen Menschen, eine Skulptur von Antony Gormley, ihn habe ich hier schon häufiger gebracht.
Das kommt nicht von ungefähr, denn seine markanten Werke, Skulpturen aus Draht oder aus Gusseisen mit den Ausstulpungen des Gussloches, sieht man auf der ganzen Welt in den Museen, in der Landschaft und den Städten ...
So richtig bewusst, wie bedeutend Gormley ist, wurde mir klar, als ich auf einen Bericht über Eike Schmidt aufmerksam wurde, den Wiki so beschreibt.
Eike Dieter Schmidt (* 22. April 1968 in Freiburg im Breisgau) ist ein deutscher Kunsthistoriker und seit 2015 Museumsdirektor der Uffizien in Florenz.
Leben
Eike Schmidt studierte Moderne und Mittelalterliche Kunst an der Universität Heidelberg. In den neunziger Jahren lebte und arbeitete er mehrere Jahre als Stipendiat in Florenz und Bologna. Danach arbeitete er bis 2001 am Deutschen Kunsthistorischen Institut in Florenz. Er erhielt 1997 den Nicoletta Quinto-Nachwuchspreis der Galileo-Galilei-Stiftung.
Er ging 2001 als Kurator an die National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. und von 2006 bis 2008 an das Getty Museum in Los Angeles und war ein Jahr Direktor für europäische Plastik im Auktionshaus Sotheby’s in London. Im Jahr 2009 wurde Eike D. Schmidt in Heidelberg mit einer Arbeit über die Elfenbeinskulpturen der Medici promoviert.
Ab 2009 leitete Schmidt im Minneapolis Institute of Arts die Skulpturenabteilung und kuratierte in dieser Zeit im Palazzo Pitti eine Ausstellung barocker Elfenbeinkunst.
Im September 2015 wurde er zum Leiter der Uffizien ernannt. Er forderte die Rückgabe von Raubkunst, insbesondere eines Stilllebens von Jan van Huysum, das deutsche Soldaten 1944 aus der Villa Bossi Pucci entwendet hatten. Seit 2017 ist er Honorarprofessor an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
Ab November 2019 hätte er die Leitung des Kunsthistorischen Museums in Wien von Sabine Haag übernehmen sollen, sagte aber kurzfristig am 1. Oktober 2019 ab.
Zu Beginn des Jahres 2020 sorgte er im Uffizienmuseum, dessen Leitung er weiter innehat, für eine kontroverse Diskussion, die zum Rücktritt aller vier Mitglieder des wissenschaftlichen Komitees führte. Der Grund war eine Leihgabe eines Gemäldes von Papst Leo X. an eine Raffael-Schau in Rom: die bisher größte diesem Künstler gewidmete Ausstellung, gemeinsam organisiert von den Uffizien und den Scuderie del Quirinale. Allerdings stehe dieses Gemälde auf der Sperrliste, nach der es die Sammlung nicht verlassen dürfe. Diese Sperrliste bezieht sich jedoch ausschließlich auf Ausleihen ins Ausland; zudem liegt es im Ermessen des Museumsdirektors, Ausnahmen davon zu autorisieren, wie das italienische Kulturministerium klarstellte.

Eike Schmidt ist mit Gormley befreundet und baute zwar die gesamten Uffizien in Florenz um, aber auch einen Raum speziell nur für eine A. G. - Ausstellung.
Das machte mir erst recht bewusst, was Gormley im Moment für ein wichtiger Künstler ist ...
Und so stell ich euch einen Künstler über einen Umweg vor und hoffe ihr werdet neugierig ...
Im Moment habe ich vor über diese Skulptur eine kleine Serie zu bringen, die euch hoffentlich etwas überrascht ...

You see a man, a sculpture by Antony Gormley, him I have brought here more often.

I really realized how important Gormley is, when I became aware of a report about Eike Schmidt, which Wiki describes thus.
Eike Dieter Schmidt (born April 22, 1968 in Freiburg im Breisgau) is a German art historian and museum director of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence since 2015.
Life
Eike Schmidt studied modern and medieval art at the University of Heidelberg. In the 1990s, he lived and worked for several years as a fellow in Florence and Bologna. Afterwards he worked at the German Institute of Art History in Florence until 2001. He received the Nicoletta Quinto Young Artist Award of the Galileo Galilei Foundation in 1997.
He went to the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., as a curator in 2001 and to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles from 2006 to 2008, and spent a year as director of European sculpture at Sotheby's auction house in London. In 2009, Eike D. Schmidt received his doctorate in Heidelberg with a thesis on the ivory sculptures of the Medici.
From 2009 Schmidt headed the sculpture department at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, during which time he curated an exhibition of Baroque ivory art at the Palazzo Pitti.
In September 2015, he was appointed director of the Uffizi. He called for the return of looted art, in particular a still life by Jan van Huysum that German soldiers had stolen from the Villa Bossi Pucci in 1944. He has been an honorary professor at Humboldt University in Berlin since 2017.
As of November 2019, he was to have taken over from Sabine Haag as director of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, but canceled at short notice on October 1, 2019.
At the beginning of 2020, he caused a controversial discussion at the Uffizi Museum, of which he remains director, which led to the resignation of all four members of the scientific committee. The reason was a loan of a painting by Pope Leo X to a Raphael show in Rome: the largest exhibition to date dedicated to this artist, jointly organized by the Uffizi and the Scuderie del Quirinale. However, this painting was on the restricted list, according to which it was not allowed to leave the collection. This restricted list, however, refers exclusively to loans abroad; moreover, it is at the discretion of the museum director to authorize exceptions to it, as the Italian Ministry of Culture clarified.

Eike Schmidt is a friend of Gormley's and although he rebuilt the entire Uffizien in Florence, he also rebuilt a room specifically for exhibition of A. G. only.
This made me even more aware of what an important artist Gormley is at the moment ...
And so I introduce you to an artist via a detour and hope you will be curious ...

DB Regio 245 037 war am 2.9.2025 mit dem RE 3064 von Friedrichshafen Stadt nach Basel Bad Bf unterwegs und konnte per Hochstativ bei Salem Mimmenhausen fotografiert werden. Mit der Elektrifizierung der Hochrheinbahn wird in naher Zukunft der Einsatz von lokbespannten Wendezügen auf dem RE 3 der Vergangenheit angehören, denn dann soll eine neue Express Verbindung von St. Gallen über Konstanz bis nach Basel den Einsatz von Dieselzügen auf den Abschnitt Friedrichshafen - Radolfzell beschränken, wo ausschließlich Lint Triebwagen zum Einsatz kommen sollen...

Someone stuck a teddy bear in a crack in the tree on the left!
Was walking around in the highlands of Teneriffe - a true photographers heaven. After a very fine sunrise walked by this natural window and of course I to take the shot. Back in the studio, I am quite satisfied with the result. I really like the dark shadows on the foreground bushes and stones and the morning light on Pico del Teide.
