Lake Meriwether

Meriwether County near Woodbury, Georgia USA

Lake Michigan shoreline close to the town of Empire with the Robert H. Manning Memorial Lighthouse in the distance. Another photograph from my “Missing Michigan” series taken May 2019. Talk about a hidden gem. I can’t get enough of that emerald green water!

** This is my final shot of this most beautiful lake, its sadly missing the famous view of the “Valley of Ten peaks” that should be in the background of the shot, the peaks are hidden by thick low cloud . It was pretty disappointing not to see that iconic landscape at its best but the colour of the lake is still pretty incredible I used a tripod for this shot so I was at least able to keep the ISO fairly low I did not adjust the colour

Located in Banff National Park, about 8 miles from the town of Lake Louise, this glacier-fed lake is famous for its breathtaking turquoise waters, which get their colour from the refraction of light off rock flour (fine rock particles) carried by meltwater.

This lake is called "Herzsee" in German, so that would be 'Heart Lake' in English, though it doesn't seem to be heart-shaped.

The lake is the starting point for several walks through the Schwarzwassertal and beyond.

It is situated at an altitude of approximately 800 metres, which accounts for its relatively cool summers and frequently icy winters. It also has the longest shoreline of any of the Fuji Five Lakes.

The Lake, though bitter as the Dead Sea, is yet translucent as Tahoe, and in calms mirrors the colors of its shores and the massive cumuli that pile themselves in the purple sky above it as no fresh water lake ever can.

Low clouds blocked the impressive peaks that rise above Lake Moraine. Even so the lake and it's phenomenal blue/teal waters

were remarkable and unforgettable. Truly one of the planets special places.
