While the male Northern Cardinal gets all the accolades due to his bright red coloring, I think that the lady cardinal is just as beautiful.

This Painted Lady is enjoying the sunshine like me :)

A female mallard duck swimming on the lake. It was a beautiful day, the blue sky reflected on the water.

And here is 'Lady Marmalade' from the soundtrack of the movie 'Moulin Rouge'. BUT, this is the super cool version performed at the 2001 MTV awards by Christina Aguilera, Lil Kim, P!nk & Mýa.

This lovely, old lady was peacefully relaxing in her hammock and watching the world go by as it did in the waters of Tonle Sap. There’s a pretty large class distinction between the people living in house boats and those in the stilted homes on the shores of the lake. The villagers living in floating houses on the lake are generally those of Vietnamese descent who are not allowed to own land. These people are basically discriminated against because they can’t prove their Cambodian birth and have no ID cards. Because of this, their living standards are significantly lower than the villagers living in stilted houses who are allowed to own land and farm to supplement their income during the dry season. Nontheless they seem happy enough with their lot in life.

This is a photograph that I had posted in the summer, it’s one of many that were lost from Flickr when I transferred files from Lightroom, luckily I had copies of some of them. Please be careful if you upload direct from Lightroom because if you move or transfer the folder they may be lost!

A beautiful ladybug on dead nettle. A perfect picture of Spring.

This Lady Allen's Hummer acted a llittle like our old friend "Al" and seemed very friendly- an image from back in December 2019 at the Los Angeles County Arboretum. Hit "L" for a closer look.

I don`t normally include people in my images but this lovely lady came past, wished me a good evening and carried on walking with her dog. Her red coat immediately brought the song title into my head and then the image was done or I should say the two images, as this is a blend, one for the sky and one for the foreground. This is on top of Lancing ring in Sussex.

A Painted Lady Butterfly (Vanessa cardui?) in the Butterfly and Orchid Pavilion of the Tucson Botanical Gardens in Tucson, Arizona

This was deliberately taking into the light to create the near silhouettes Many of the beaches in North Norfolk have boats and tractors and they always make for interesting shots. Taken at Weybourne, North Norfolk, England.

St. Peter’s Square Manchester. This lady was making a dashing run to get under the shelter of the Central Library canopy; she obviously had left home without her umbrella; that is a criminal offence in Manchester. Hope she didn’t get too wet!

Was on my way to my wheelie bin to clean my boots.

I think this ladybug was waiting for me too. Quickly grabbed my camera and made a close-up of her. From a distance she seems so sweet, up close I understand that it is a real lice killer.

Painted Lady - Vanessa cardui

The Painted Lady is a long-distance migrant, which causes the most spectacular butterfly migrations observed in Britain and Ireland.

Each year, it spreads northwards from the desert fringes of North Africa, the Middle East, and central Asia, recolonising mainland Europe and reaching Britain and Ireland. In some years it is an abundant butterfly, frequenting gardens and other flowery places in late summer.

Painted lady butterflies have a pale buffy-orange background colour to the upper wings. The forewings have black tips marked with white spots; the hindwings have rows of black spots. The undersides are pale with blue eyespots.

Painted ladies do not hibernate in Britain; instead they migrate to and from northern Africa. They can arrive in early spring, but late May and June are more usual. They are fairly common across Britain, numerous in some years.

Females lay their small, green eggs on a range of species, such as nettles and mallows, but thistles are the general favourite. When the caterpillars hatch they begin to eat the underside of the leaf. As they grow, each constructs a tent of folded leaves fastened with silk.

Caterpillars pupate and remain suspended in a large tent of leaves until the adults emerge in August and September. The whole British population dies or emigrates to Africa in the autumn.

Caterpillars are black, speckled with tiny white spots and have a yellow stripe down each side. They are covered in spines.

Foxy Lady - Foxgloves (Digitalis purpurea) growing in our garden, one of two varies...this is the purple one, the other is white.

Have a lovely day everyone :)
