An Australian painted lady, Vanessa kershawi, feeding on the Jervis Bay Grevillea, Grevillea macleayana, at Hyams Beach, Jervis Bay, Australia.
The markings of the Australian painted lady are similar to the Northern Hemisphere painted lady, Vanessa cardui.
Thanks for visiting. I am very grateful for the very kind comments and faves which have been left.
Have a wonderful week!
Purple coneflower is in full bloom at Lake Meyer Park now and pollinators love them. This painted lady is joined by a bumble bee on the blossom behind.

Sarakiniko beach in the island of Milos is a volcanic location that attracts many influencers. The lady in red was posing for another photographer early in the day. I took this image at 105mm from the opposite side of the rocky beach.
I don't want summer to end without posting a butterfly. Here is a Painted Lady, and as you can see it was well aware that I was taking its photograph. How lucky we are to be able to observe with our macro lens their tiny lives.
Butterflies have been the inspiration of so many fairy tales and fantastic stories, and there are so many more things that I can say about them, but for now I'm going to stop there :)
Something interesting about this butterfly:

Photography is one of my passions, and nature photography is my favorite.
I have been in Explore for more that a hundred times, and it is an awesome experience to have your photos showcased in such a special way.
I thank your for coming today, for leaving a comment, and make a favorite of yours this photo, (if that is the case) thanks again!
The best part of this forum is the contacts and friends that I have made over the years, that have the same passion for this art that is called photography!
Martha.
The only Painted lady butterfly i've seen so far this year. Last year was a bumper year, they were everywhere.
Father's Day (June 23 in Poland)
Love you Dad for being the best mentor and supporting me in whatever I do. Though I may not be the best daughter but you are a perfect father for me. Happy Father’s Day daddy.
I've never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight,
I've never seen you shine so bright, you were amazing,
I've never seen so many people want to be there by your side,
And when you turned to me and smiled, it took my breath away,
And I have never had such a feeling,
Such a feeling of complete and utter love, as I do tonight;
The lady in red is dancing with me, cheek to cheek,
There's nobody here, it's just you and me,
It's where I want to be,
But I hardly know this beauty by my side,
I'll never forget the way you look tonight;

Vanessa cardui is a well-known colorful butterfly, known as the painted lady, or formerly in North America as the cosmopolitan. This is one of the butterflies that are always around our gardens.
An Aurelian lily, which is a hybrid of Lilium henryi and a trumpet lily. Of the five bulbs we planted this spring, three survived attacks by the resident squirrel, and only one produced flowers that opened fully. It is pretty enough that I will leave them in the ground and hope they do better next summer.
Happy Flower Power Friday! Take care and stay safe.Thanks for stopping by and for all of your support -- I deeply appreciate it.
