The largest faith gathering in the world, the Kumbh in Allahbad now called #prayagraj. #Kumbh sees a gathering of nearly hundred million people who come to bathe in the confluence of three rivers. They believe it will wash of their sins and free them from the birth death cycle- #moksha.

Prayagraj Ardh Kumbh Mela, 2019 was the Ardh Kumbh Mela held at Triveni Sangam in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India from 15 January to 4 March 2019.

Sadhus (holy men) covered in ash at the Kumbh Mela festival in India. Maybe the most difficult shoot I've ever done - with overwhelmingly large crowds and a lot of logistics to figure out to be in this position at the right time. Kumbh Mela is the largest religious festival on earth and is an experience like no other, with millions of Hindu pilgrims in attendance when it takes place every three years.

Maha Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj, India.

The Kumbh Mela (or Kumbha Mela) is a Hindu religious festival that is celebrated four times every 12 years in special locations in India.

The 2010 Kumbh Mela was in Haridwar, and the pilgrims came from all over, carrying kumbhs (water pots) or other containers to carry water from the sacred rivers home with them. They came on foot, by tuk tuk, or by bicycle or car.

Everyone seems happy to have their picture taken.

Kumbh | 2019

Prayagraj Ardh Kumbh Mela, 2019 is the Ardh Kumbh Mela to being held at Triveni Sangam in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India from 15 January to 4 March 2019 According to Hindu mythology, Vishnu dropped drops of amrita (the drink of immortality) at four places, while transporting it in a kumbha (pot). These four places, including Allahabad, are identified as the present-day sites of the Kumbh Mela. The river-side fair at Allahabad is centuries old, but its association with the kumbha myth and a 12-year old cycle dates back to the 19th century. The priests of Allahabad borrowed these concepts from the Haridwar Kumbh Mela and applied it to their local Magh Mela, an annual celebration. The Magh Mela probably dates back to the early centuries CE, and has been mentioned in several Puranas.
