Former Kroger located at 1640 South Broadway in Wichita,KS. The building has been sitting vacant since the summer of 2022.
Note Kroger opened this 15,000 square foot grocery store on September 10th 1953. On September 23rd 1953 the store was acquired by Dillons which operated at the site until July 19th 2014. Following the closure of Dillon's the building sat vacant until the spring of 2017 when Save-a-Lot opened a grocery store at the site. The Save-a-Lot closed in the spring of 2019 leaving the building vacant until the Summer of 2021 when a Hispanic grocery store under the name El Mercado Fresco opened for business. By the Spring of 2022 El Mercado Fresco had closed with the building continuing to sit vacant as of May 2024.
*Note a renovation was completed by Dillon's on June 17th 1965 which brought the addition of a "folded plate canopy" and a repositioning of the automatic doors.
