Hogenakkal Falls | Tamilnadu | India

Hogenakkal Falls - When its full of beauty.

Shoot @ 31 Aug 2007

Hogenakkal Falls is in Tamilnadu, India. It is fondly called the Indian Niagara. the place is very beautiful indeed.

River Cauvery in Southern India causes a series of beautiful falls at Hogenakkal (smoking rocks). The falls are usually gentle, beautiful and a major tourist attraction. The river Cauvery is a major river in southern India. It flows along the Karnataka-Tamilnadu State border at Hogenakkal.

The route Bangalore-Hosur-Krishnagiri-Dharmapuri-Hogennakkal (186 km) was very good. The Indian National Highway NH-7 that connects these places is very well maintained and is a pleasure to drive. I covered this distance on hired car ... and it was a wonderful experience !

Location : Hogenakkal, 50 kms from Dharmapuri, Tamilnadu State, India

Fisherman trying to fish in the extremely rough waters at Hogenakkal. His price: a single throw of his net and he gets a bunch of fishes each about a foot long...

Gingee Fort or Senji Fort (also known as Chenji, Jinji or Senchi) in Tamil Nadu, India is one of the surviving forts in Tamil Nadu, India. . The fort is so fortified, that Shivaji, the Maratha king, ranked it as the "most impregnable fortress in India" and it was called the "Troy of the East" by the British.

The Kalyana Mahal is built in the Indo-Islamic style and is one of the most attractive ruins in the fort. It is a square courtyard surrounded by chambers with a large central tower of eight storeys resembling a beehive. In the middle of the court is 27 metre high square tower with a pyramidal roof. Each storey, except the highest two, comprises a small room surrounded by an arcaded veranda. These rooms were used by the ladies of the Governor's household.

This is my first HDR attempt. In true sense it is not a HDR,It is a single exposure jpg which i modified with gimp to make it a three exposure shot and then used Photomatix for HDR.

Suggestion and improvements in HDR would be great :)
