At the Singapore zoo... This stuff was addictive.

Kopi luwak, or civet coffee, is one of the world's most expensive and low-production varieties of coffee. It is made from the beans of coffee berries which have been eaten by the Asian Palm Civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) and other related civets, then passed through its digestive tract.

The eccentric lingoes of Singapore's *Kopitiam culture.

Ever been intimidated and paralysed for a split second by the long list of beverage options available at a Singapore Kopitiam? Ever wondered what does the C in your favourite Teh C means? Did you know that the bottled mineral water is lovingly nicknamed "忘情水" by our Kopitiam uncles and aunties?

These are some of the common lingoes we use and hear, but do we really know the true meanings behind them? This book is a compilation of Singapore's eccentric lingoes used within our Kopitiams. Often a mishmash of words from various dialects and culture, one would be surprised by the creativity and originality behind our eclectic Kopitiam culture.

*The word Kopitiam is a combination of 2 words‚ Kopi which means coffee in Bahasa Melayu, and Tiam means shop (店), in Hokkien (a Chinese dialect). This Kopitiam (coffee shop), commonly found in Southeast Asia is patronised for meals and beverages.
