Koki playing on the stairs, hoping for the others to join in.

Even though Koki turned 2 years old a month ago today, he still acts like a kitten. A very mischievous, giant 15lb/7kg kitten! Fortunately, he loves to cuddle, and loves us - he melts into my arms when I pick him up.

Maine Coon cats keep growing for up to 5 years, and he has definitely not finished. He won't be as big as his Uncle Ziggy, but he is almost as long.

I keep trying to capture his mysterious blue with white coat which keeps changing as he matures. One of the better ones so far I think!

Well, Koki is probably dreaming of pumpkin colored mice. Or a nice pumpkin colored chicken. He's so sweet - except when he's been possessed by a demon. I giant purring demon. For Halloween. Or Tuesday. haha - he's a great cat!

Koki our Maine Coon kitten sitting still for a moment. Although he has his uncle Ziggy to play with, he's very focused on us humans. Maybe it's the chicken. He loves chicken. Even if it's not pumpkin colored.

How would you describe his eye color?

Koki turned 4 years old two weeks ago, so it's time for another portait. Maine Coons mature slowly, and he still acts very much like the kitten he is!

I recently got him a new 'red dot' (laser pointer), and is all over that. At this point he's pretty much figured out that it's me making it go, so now I get some fairly direct requests to PRODOOS TEH RED DOTZ, MR. FOODZ!!!

huh - handheld 1/8 sec 145mm - IBIS/VR these days is amazing! Good thing he didn't move haha

Hope your new year is going well so far!

I think this is my last shot of Koki, aged 14 or maybe even 15. She was such a good girl.

Shot with a Nikon D40, fitted with a Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 AIS manual focus lens (from around 1980) and processed in GIMP and Photoscape.

Koki LOVES our xmas tree. And by love I mean as a beautiful thing. Full of cat toys. That belong to him.

The lower part of tree is oddly barren now. Maybe Koki could explain that.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year, Everyone!

Some call it ugly, some awkward, some imperfect, or what ever the human invented technicalities bring up to mentally block the reality around us. But for me it’s perfection to the purest, down to it's fundamental essence. Life is analog and Nature doesn’t like straight lines for a reason.

Sankyō Kōki Tokyo Komura 105mm/3.5 LTM

LENS TEST: SANKYO KOKI TOKYO Komura- 1:105mm 1:2.8

Despite I have not finished yet the homework I started when I got the first copy of this lens (quite some time ago), here I am with a second copy of it, I have recovered on auction for a very reasonable price lately. Yet again a M42 mount version. But this time the serial is significantly higher: no more the early six ciphers, but seven. I am not going to spoil the curiosity here too much, since the retrieval of this copy prompted me for some further and in depth observation/research about it in all its mounts and searchable editions; yet I can anticipate the hint that the extra number, rather than expressing a production quantity, it referred to a manufacturing line change - as is the case for other makers. This lens was indeed commercialized only during a very short period of time, having soon been replaced but the faster 105mm f2.5 and f2, later on. So it is virtually impossible that in one or two year it could have reached those astronomical number of copies.

In general, I have to say, do I love it. Among the Komura production, it is a really special tool. Relatively sharp in the center, when shot wide open, it displays an increasing blur as you move toward the edges - as I like in portrait lenses - making everything around ethereal and pictorial. It displays also a slight whirl. At times, it tends to flatten a bit the contrast curve with a moderate lack of shadows (that can be easily recovered in post if necessary). But it has a very lovely color rendering: a delicate water colors-like tone canvas that, when paired with the background bokeh, in the right condition it returns really the painterly effect similar to that of its far more expensive and rare faster brother, the 100mm f1.8.
