This is a photo of three colorful koi fish swimming in the pond, digitally enhanced with painterly type effects to create a dramatic semi-abstract piece with light and movement.

This was taken from a local koi pond in our area.

I like the variety of colors in the fish here, and also I'm mesmerized by the light reflections on the water surface.

The fish du jour this season appears to be some sort of non-native goldfish or perhaps koi whose well meaning, but misguided owners have liberated them into the local waters.

This gorgeous Koi was swimming lazily by me in the pond, and this is one of many images that I captured.

The water surface is invisible here, except for the blue ripples, making the fish to appear suspended in the air above!

The complete cloud cover of the day made it much easier to come away with nice images, due to the lack of harsh reflections on the water's surface that direct sunlight often produces. I had no polarizing filter here, so the clouds above me were my natural filter.

Anyone who has photographed water scenes knows exactly what I'm talking about :)

There were several color variations among the Koi, but I felt this gold one was exquisite and it positively glowed!

Geum coccineum 'Koi' is a dwarf variety of Geum thay produces compact bright orange-red flowers from late spring and through the summer. Geum, commonly called avens, is a genus of about 50 species of rhizomatous perennial herbaceous plants in the rose family( Rosaceae). They are native to Europe, Asia, North and South America, Africa, and New Zealand - to earth basically. They are closely related to Potentilla and Fragaria. Most species produce flowers on wiry stalks, in shades of red, yellow and orange. Geum species usually have fuzzy-hairy evergreen foliage unless winter temperatures drop below −15 or -20 °C.

There was a painting of some Koi Fish on the wall at the Thai restaurant where we had lunch today. I used the Dynamic Auto Painter 8 to bump this up a notch!

Just a little playtime. No raktajino involved.

Continuing with the White theme, this fourth image features an iridescent Koi swimming slowly with two companions.

Koi and their ponds fascinate me, which makes me keep coming back to this pond in our city, looking for more photo opportunities.

The Como Zoo and Conservatory in Minnesota is free to the public and I love heading up there when I can to enjoy the lovely greenery. One greenhouse has a really fun koi pond in the middle of it.

Taken and edited on my cell phone for a Cell Phone photography class. I thought the filter was fun.

I was told by my Japanese friend, that in Japan this is called Koi-nobori and flown to charm good luck for the growing boys specially during the month of May.

It is October now, therefore this koinobori is not intended anymore for the young boys . If it is for the finder, I wish this is good luck for me... lol
