Koi in a friends pond.

This is just a quick cell phone image of my Koi pond. Its been pretty much taking up all my free time over the past month or so. Which really isn't all that much considering they still working us 60 to 70 hours a week. We are still pretty shorthanded since the covid out break.

The warm weather snuck up on me and I needed to get the winter blues out of my pond...lol. Was able to get it opened up for the summer, made some improvements, now just need to tidy things up a bit.

I've always liked abstracts, especially the colorful ones. Right out our bedroom window, we have a medium-sized koi pond with a depth of around 3.5 feet. The koi live there year-round, even though winter here can bring temperatures below -20 F.

Summer provides many opportunities to photograph the koi, making interesting patterns and color combinations.

we love our koi and everyone has a name... we had 12 and few weeks ago, we noticed that our beautiful Blondie, who we bought in 2017, was acting strange... she would eat and then spit the food out... thinking she swallowed a pebble from the bottom and had a blockage, we couldn't do anything about it... then there were days she acted fine... but last night we noticed her scales lifting... not good... and this morning I found she had died... very sad, she was so beautiful...

Couldn't be a Japanese garden without a koi pond.

Koi or more specifically nishikigoi, are ornamental varieties of domesticated common carp that are kept for decorative purposes in outdoor koi ponds or water gardens. Koi varieties are distinguished by coloration, patterning, and scalation.

That's it. Just some koi in a pond. Looks kinda cool though.

Among the many Koi in a local pond, I thought this silver one really stood out.

Without a polarizer filter on my lens, it was very difficult not to get glare off the surface of the water, but I kept at it and managed to get a few images that met my expectations :)
