An invite to summer. Not every shot is a masterpiece. Here is a lot to criticize but who doesn't want to jump into the water?

I corrected the name of the picture after the suggestion of Paola Marina, tough she isn't carioca but paulista, she could easily see it out that it was Ipanema and not Copacabana. Copacabana is more far away from the mountain and really much more touristic then Ipanema, that is really more trendy. In this way this photo is strictly correlated to the other of the garota de Ipanema www.flickr.com/photos/historicus/423835955/in/set-7215759...
These photographs where taken by me in 1971 at the Manx TT on the Isle of Man. The where originally on Kodak Ektachrome
slide film and I had by accident opened the camera thus exposing the film slightly. Due to the wonders of photoshop I was able to restore them to the condition you see, plus I changed them to B&W.

In the evening light, shadows claw their way across the tree trunks, jittering in the icy breeze.
Do you take the time to appreciate their progress in the fading light?

A great idea can't be dimmed. Created in the days well before Photoshop, this image is how it looked in camera.
My original concept was created for an ad agency as the cover of a retail catalog, it's been my signature image for over 25 years. Friend and assistant Michael Bodycomb (now with the Frick Museum, New York) helped tremendously with the execution to final film.

Canon FT – I’ve had my 1966 Canon FT since 1978 when a family member handed it down to me. My first camera never gets too far from sight, A workhorse of a 35mm camera - it’s reliable and does not need a battery to fire the shutter.
Today I packed my bag with both Canon FL 50mm and 19mm lenses. This image was produced using the 19mm Canon FL f3.5 lens.
The mood was captured perfectly in color by using a 19mm lens on my Canon FT with Kodak expired Kodak Ektachrome slide film. Experimenting with batches of expired film allows me to select a film stock to capture the mood on film. The style and mood is captured in-camera without any post-production, which I love!

Tutti lo chiamavano così perchè era stato selezionato al concorso per la scelta dell'attore che doveva impersonare Tarzan nella serie dei film ispirati a questa figura.
Il concorso lo vinse Johnny Weissmuller e a lui rimase il nome.
