The Salton Sea is a land locked desert wasteland of contradictions. It is at first glance a beautiful magnificent salt lake. Surrounded by scenic mountains ranges and fertile agriculture. It is at second glance you see the mystery... Dead fish adorn the shores slowly moving in and out with the tide. The beaches are made up of the bones of millions of tilapia who drew their last breath amongst the pollution and decay of The Salton Sea. The smell is atrocious! it stinks like a billion rotten eggs, festering beneath the vengeance of a desert sun.
This is one of my favorite Decter mannequin collections. This vintage brochure is from around 1977 - 78. The mannequin on the left with the kissing facial expression was very popular.

The concept here was to make it look like the viewer had been knocked to the canvas by the model and was looking up, "counting the lights" as they call it in boxing. I was laying down looking up with a wide angle. I don't think the effect was pulled off quite the way I wanted it, but hey there's still a really great looking girl in the picture so I guess it's not a total loss! :-)

FILM REVIEW: I have decided of the 800 speed 35mm films that:
-Cinestill 800 is the best all around, especially if you're OK with using a filter or not for daylight. If there's no filter, the color cast isn't that dramatic
-Superia 800 is ridiculously cheap but a better film to shoot with than Portra 800 IF your concern is accurate and not overly or incorrectly saturated colors. It's grainier than Portra, but I feel like:
-Portra 800 performs really well under Tungsten light / indoor settings but has a weird warmth to natural lighting, and is my least favorite to use.
