Preserve turns recycled plastics into kitchenware, tableware, and personal care products. Consumers have shown a strong commitment to the Waltham, Mass., company and the small but growing number of businesses doing similar work. “There is a movement along these lines,” says Eric Hudson, MBA’92, Preserve’s founder and president. “I think it’s becoming more common.”
To make its products, Preserve partners with local manufacturers. Offshoring isn’t an option for the green company. “That’s not what Preserve is about,” Hudson says. “We can be a profitable company and work with companies right next door, and it’s the most eco-friendly way to do it.”
Not offshoring does mean somewhat lower profits. “Our COGS [cost of goods sold] is likely higher than if we manufactured overseas,” Hudson says. “Our margins are likely smaller. But we feel the positives outweigh the negatives.” So much so that Hudson thinks other businesses should ponder making the same decision as Preserve and manufacture domestically. “I find it bothersome when I hear companies can’t make the margins in the U.S.,” he says.

A great set of Texasware dishes in the rare Wildflower design. The cups I have included are NOT original to the set and are made by Durusi, but are a very close match. These peices are in like new condition and were not used daily. Set includes four 10" plates with the design, four soup/cereal bowls plain no design, and the 2 Durasi cups. Perfect for your vintage kitchen.
