Vicolo de' Catinari takes its name from craft practiced by manufacturers of kitchenware, once flourishing, that here had their shops. "Catinurum" is in fact the Latin word for the dish or bowl, from which the derivation of "catinari" also mentioned by the nearby church of St. Charles, called de' Catinari .

Please feel free to comment. It's lovely to be praised, but, if you see something which could improve an image don't be afraid to say! There are several of my contacts who give my images honest appraisal and I am grateful for that.

Not for the faint hearted.

Self-surgery is the act of performing a surgical procedure on oneself. It can be an act taken in extreme circumstances out of necessity, an attempt to avoid embarrassment, legal action, or financial costs, or a rare manifestation of a psychological disorder.

Yubitsume (指詰め, "finger shortening") or otoshimae is a Japanese ritual to atone for offences to another, a way to be punished or to show sincere apology and remorse to another, by means of amputating portions of one's own little finger.

Completed my Woodland mixing bowl set this weekend! I found the 401, 402 and 404 for $15 at the Medina Antique Mall! They were dirty but didn't even end up needing any magic eraser! If the seller had simply rinsed them off I'm sure they would have charged more for them! I'm glad they didn't! :)

Always Learning... Critiques are very welcome.

The second floor offers two twin beds with mattresses. But they’re metal spring mattresses and very uncomfortable. The cabinet in the far corner is the only storage area. The white one in the foreground was taken over by mice but did provide some counter space. There was a mop, broom, and a bucket for cleaning but no dust pan. The lookout has no cooking facilities, kitchenware, water, electricity or propane. Also no heat of any kind. The view, however, is fantastic.

Excerpt from www.mtr.com.hk: Led by the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation and artist Law Man-lok, “Tribute to Traditional Shops”, is the photography and illustration series of the four projects including Bamboo Kitchenware Store, Dried Seafood Store, Paper Offering Store and Rice Store.

The historical business district of Sai Ying Pun was once home to hundreds of traditional family-run shops, many of which specialised in handcrafted products for special occasions and everyday needs. Although many of these shops have now closed, those that continue to trade are a reminder of the unique character of this historic community.

For this project, a group of teenagers visited traditional bamboo kitchenware stores and spoke to the owners about their work and memories. Using these reflections, they worked with the artist to create lively pieces of art incorporating text and illustrations.

I photographed my grandma's lovely antique kitchenware for a bookcover I'm designing. the story is based on a culinary correspondence between a girl who's a chef and her great grandmother.

I was out in our summer cottage and took some shots. It was built in the 1950's and a lot of things in it are from that era.
