Vicolo de' Catinari takes its name from craft practiced by manufacturers of kitchenware, once flourishing, that here had their shops. "Catinurum" is in fact the Latin word for the dish or bowl, from which the derivation of "catinari" also mentioned by the nearby church of St. Charles, called de' Catinari .
Khlong Toei Market (Thai: ตลาดคลองเตย, RTGS: Talat Khlong Toei, pronounced [tā.làːt kʰlɔ̄ːŋ tɤ̄ːj]) is Bangkok's biggest fresh market. It is located on Rama IV Road near the Khlong Toei and Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre MRT stations in the Khlong Toei neighborhood. The market offers low prices on raw meat, seafood, farm produce, and a few other items (clothing, kitchenware, etc.) and is open daily from 6.00 am – 2.00 pm. In January 2010 CNN listed it as one of the most authentic markets in Bangkok as well as a place to avoid when hung over.

Please feel free to comment. It's lovely to be praised, but, if you see something which could improve an image don't be afraid to say! There are several of my contacts who give my images honest appraisal and I am grateful for that.

Completed my Woodland mixing bowl set this weekend! I found the 401, 402 and 404 for $15 at the Medina Antique Mall! They were dirty but didn't even end up needing any magic eraser! If the seller had simply rinsed them off I'm sure they would have charged more for them! I'm glad they didn't! :)

I was out in our summer cottage and took some shots. It was built in the 1950's and a lot of things in it are from that era.
Excerpt from www.mtr.com.hk: Led by the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation and artist Law Man-lok, “Tribute to Traditional Shops”, is the photography and illustration series of the four projects including Bamboo Kitchenware Store, Dried Seafood Store, Paper Offering Store and Rice Store.
The historical business district of Sai Ying Pun was once home to hundreds of traditional family-run shops, many of which specialised in handcrafted products for special occasions and everyday needs. Although many of these shops have now closed, those that continue to trade are a reminder of the unique character of this historic community.
For this project, a group of teenagers visited traditional bamboo kitchenware stores and spoke to the owners about their work and memories. Using these reflections, they worked with the artist to create lively pieces of art incorporating text and illustrations.
Two versions of a common kitchen utensil, also known as a fish slice, turner, or flipper outside of the United States. The spatula on the left is a standard-sized one.
As an essential tool used in making pancakes, the regular spatula serves its purpose, but its size is far from perfect when flipping pancakes any larger than about five inches (127mm) diameter. I put up with this issue for years, until I got frustrated and decided to search for a larger utensil, happening upon the one on the right. Even though it took some getting used to, it does a better job than a traditional spatula, thanks to its seven-inch-deep (177.8mm) paddle.
I photographed my grandma's lovely antique kitchenware for a bookcover I'm designing. the story is based on a culinary correspondence between a girl who's a chef and her great grandmother.
