The wine area is one of the many little sections I didn't get a photo of on my early November 2016 visit to the Union Ave. Kroger. But the kitchenware section is another area that looks fairly large, given the somewhat smaller size of the store.

WEEK 48 – Carriage Crossing Macy’s, Set V
Not only are we here on the other side of the upper level, we’re also now officially on the other side of Thanksgiving and Black Friday – hope y’all have been enjoying yourselves and spending some time with people you’re thankful for. It’s probably a little ironic that we’re reaching this specific department in the store the exact upload day *after* Thanksgiving – surely it would’ve felt more appropriate to explore the kitchenware department *before* the cooking-est holiday of the year, haha! To add to that misfortune, I must also note that, sadly, I didn’t get very many photos of this area of the store, because it was getting to that point in the stour where my shopping partners were beginning to become annoyed and I had to pick up the pace, lol. That’s really too bad, because from what we can see here, it looks like the kitchenware department was actually pretty nice looking, with its many different floating ceiling elements – echoing what we’ve seen elsewhere in the building – as well as its carpeted flooring, mirroring the same style and border pattern we saw downstairs. (Which begs the question: was this perhaps an apparel department originally, back in the Parisian days?)

Kitchenware section toward the pantry
Here something different - it's my first humble attempt at flash photography. The weather has been pretty bad to shoot outside lately. So today I spent time playing around with the SB-600 flash (which I very recently purchased) inside. This is what came out... (and it made it to explore, by the way!)
There is a good article about how to capture smoke with an external flash in pbase magazine issue #8. I tried to imitate that technique for this shot. Worked pretty well with steam.

I believe kitchenware (redubbed as "kitchen place" in the Marketplace version of Kroger décor) ended up moving only an aisle or two over when all was said and done, probably only to make way for the expanded wine department.

A view of one of the seven wonders of the waterways, the Anderton Boat Lift in Cheshire with a narrowboat emerging fromone of the caissons and heading towards the River Weaver.
A design dating back to 1785 by Edwin Clark, this feat of engineering allowed boats to be lifted or lowered 50 feet from the River Weaver at the lower level up to the Trent and Mersey canal above. It is affectionately known as the Catherdral of the canals.
It operated until closure in 1983 due to corrosion but has been restored and reopened in 2002.
It has a pair of caissons, which are watertight, that act to counterbalance each other. It originally operated by an hydraulic method but following problems with this system it was converted to an electrical method using counterwieghts in 1908.
This piece of engineering is one of only two in the country and has been designated a Scheduled Monument.
Obviously were not actually on the kitchenware aisle, but the banners are hard not to notice from one aisle over, or even several aisles over for that matter! Yippee! Finally finished off this iconic Pyrex bowl set! I have had the middle two bowls for a while, but when I was recently gifted the green bowl (Thanks again Sandy!!), I had to finish it up! :)
Found someone selling two orange bowls in the same listing, and jumped! It just so happened to be cheaper than buying any single bowl AND, Sandy needs the orange one too! Yours will be in the mail Friday!!
Appropriately positioned outside the Treasury Casino!
I showed a sample of the external detail of one of these street-art spheres, and now you get an idea of their size.
This is made with uranium glass. It is just a piece of stuff made with a glass that looks normal. But has a bit of radiation. And glows like this under UV light!

I'm reasonably certain this is the back section of pet care, looking toward the front, with the familiar pet circle sign, and the more unfamiliar (at least for now!) kitchen place banners. Aisle numbers evidently go from smaller to larger, looking from the front toward the back, as you might expect. And per the previous photo, along the north side wall the numbers go from smaller to larger as you go toward the front of the store.

WEEK 6 – Southaven Gordmans Liquidates Again (III)
Speaking of kitchenware – if that stuff has been relocated to occupy what used to be a portion of the Bath & Bedding department, then what’s occupying the next-door Kitchen Trends department? As it happens, Stage actually had enough kitchenware in stock to fill up that department, too – but it should be noted that there was pet merchandise in those aisles directly out of view to the right, so there was still an identity crisis overall :P

Actually found a piece of Pyrex today! A piece pretty high on my wish list no less! :)
Wouldn't this pattern make a great fabric? It looks very Alexander Henry to me!
WEEK 43 – Barnes Crossing Kroger, Post-Remodel (IV)
Speaking of the kitchenware aisle – yep, that’s exactly what Aisle 13 is home to :P (In addition to that clearance section, haha!) The kitchenware shelving looks particularly spiffy to me in this image; I wish I could definitively tell y’all if it’s new from the remodel or not. (I’m tempted to say it’s new, but then again I have zero clue what this aisle looked like prior to the remodel – so it’s possible this could have been here all along.)
Anyway, besides the shelving, you can also see the Aisle 13 marker, more of that ceiling border, and, off in the background, the fresh meat section’s word cloud that started our set off today (below the lower drop ceiling).
