I had hoped that the fog would clear as I drove northwards, but it got worse.

Nevertheless it was good to get the castle with snow. It was thawing rapidly and most was gone by early evening.

This mono version is from the same spot as the colour version put up yesterday. Still not sure which works best.

A stroll around the marine lake at West Kirby last night. A beautiful and calm evening watching the sun go down behind Hilbre Island.

Wielding a sword is one of Kirby’s copy abilities and is perhaps one of his most iconic powers. Sword Kirby wears a long green hat similar to Link from the Legend of Zelda series and wields a sword.

A year ago the Force awakened in Kirby when he swallowed a jedi. Now it is time to change his appearance again and I decided to go for Sword Kirby. This also gave me the opportunity to make some changes to Kirby’s design. The major change being that the round body is now tilted backwards. Why? Because of his (future) hats! The hat looks so much better when it appears to be firmly around his head instead of lying ‘flat’ on top. I also made his feet a bit smaller and they are more embedded with the body emphasizing the roundness of Kirby. I had a blast rebuilding the pink cute fellow.

Kirby came to live with us on Thursday evening, a six year old English Bulldog. His favorite hobby is eating. A foster for now, but we'll see.

Unfortunately, things didn't work out for Widget. She tried as best she could, but city life was really too frightening for her. We miss her every day.

Hello friends, today i want to introduce you the new addition to the family ;-) I wanted her from the promo pics and i think she's incredible in person! I have no other girls with this lovely color combo, and i think she can be a tomboy, but also elegant and sexy. In this first pics of her,the beautiful and delicate flower dress is from Rosalynsgarden, one of my fav doll stylist :-) Have a great week! <3<3<3

Although it was never finished, Kirby Muxloe is an outstanding example of late 15th century castle architecture and brickwork.

William, Lord Hastings, a trusted follower of Edward IV began to build the castle in 1480. He planned to create a splendid residence on a rectangular plan enclosed by walls, towers and a moat. A garden was also laid out beside the castle.

The new buildings however were never completed. Construction immediately ceased when Lord Hastings was executed in 1483 for his opposition to the seizure of the throne by Richard III.

Parts of the unfinished castle were subsequently occupied by the Hastings family but the buildings were probably abandoned and left to ruin during the 16th century. The site was eventually occupied by a farm. In 1911 the castle was taken over by the Ministry of Works, which renewed the moats and repaired the building.

My custom Lego Kirby "minifigure," from the Kirby series. One of my favorite games ever is Kirby's Return to Dreamland and Kirby is also one of my favorite fighters in Smash Bros.

This figure took ages to make, not because it was hard, but because I didn't work on it nearly as often as I should have. But now that it's done, I can start making some of his copy abilities.

Also, I know the arms/hands are way too big, but I wanted them to be slightly pose-able and be able to hold objects. His feet fit on Lego studs.

Kirby Hall, Corby, Northamptonshire

Kirby Hall is an Elizabethan country house, located near Gretton, Northamptonshire, England. (Nearest town being Corby). Kirby was owned by Sir Christopher Hatton, Lord Chancellor to Queen Elizabeth I. It is a leading and early example of the Elizabethan prodigy house. Construction on the building began in 1570 based on the designs in French architectural pattern books and expanded in the classical style over the course of the decades. The house is now in a semi-ruined state with many parts roof-less although the Great Hall and state rooms remain intact.

A little out of the way, I think Kirby cove offers a unique perspective on the GG Bridge and the city beyond.

A vintage pharmacy storefront is captured with its bold blue entrance and classic signage. Above the entrance, the name "I.W. KIRBY" is featured on a tiled background, hinting at the store's historical roots.

GBRf Class 66 66710 approaches Melton Mowbray from the West, passing Kirby Bellars. March 2019.

At Kirby Stephen, an unidentified 'British railways' type 2 Bo-Bo passes the west box with a down mixed freight on the Settle - Carlisle line. April 1st 1967.

An image from an album of prints by the Revd David Benson, a curate in Hull when he took most of his photographs. Nearly all from the late 1960s, he not only chased steam (plenty of such photographs from others), but didn't ignore the first generation diesels, of which there are some fantastic images. Also a good number of shots around Hull Docks. Loaded into the Flickr album 'A Curate's Collection'.

A stormy day at West Kirby ,Wirral

I was up early and decided to go to Kirby Cove for a sunrise shoot. I did not know what to expect as it was clear when I left the house and then rained on the drive to Kirby Cove. I had the beach all to myself and was treated to a nice sunrise.

37608 'Andromeda' opens up nicely through Kirby Bellars on 29th March 2025, working the 5Q58 10:00 Derby Chaddesden Sidings to Asfordby RIDC. In the formation were LNW units 730217 and 730212, which were scheduled to be moved from Bletchley the previous day but ended up going to Chaddesden instead due to issues with 37501.

The stunning St Peter's church in the background was once the Kirby Bellars Priory, built somewhere in the period between 1319 and 1359.

Just west of the North tower and a 0.80 mile long hike down a dirt road, Kirby Cove has unprecedented views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline falling under the bridges deck. Most of us know of that when you step foot on Kirby Cove you inevitably run into this mysterious looking "wood box". Most of the time people just walk around this to compose their shots or include it sometimes, but my goal was to get something completely different. I wanted to get drama and water splashing on this thing using specific shutter speeds to show motion and movement, so came here three mornings in a row until I got something I was half pleased with. As usual was half soaked when I left.

Getting the shot:

As soon as I get on the beach the shoes come off and pants are rolled up. The water around this time was about 53º,so it's pretty darn cold. Believe it or not there were decent size waves crashing on this thing. I waited several feet back for the wave to crash and then I would run in with my camera (set on the tripod) and quickly compose the shot. It's a little difficult as you have to have your focus and exposure set as well as make sure your horizon is straight and distortion under control, all while water is thrusting up against your tripod. Of course I took a couple practice shots to set my exposure before running in. This is one of my favorite places to shoot..handsdown!!

Thanks for your visit! :)

A lovely little Elizabethan house/manor, even more interesting as it's only partly restored/refurbished

The gardens with their elaborate ‘cutwork’ design complete with statues and urns have been recently restored.
