King David, seated on the left, plays some kind of violin that is resting on his lap rather than on his shoulder. To his side two of his four musicians play, respectively, the harp-psaltery and the drum. Early 12th century capital, originally from the Monastery of La Daurade ( no longer in existence) and now in the Musée des Augustins, Toulouse.
The mural was discovered in 1955 and depicts King David who was born in Bethlehem in 1040 BC and died in 970 BC in Jerusalem.

The paintings were reproduced in "La Sainte Bible : Ancien Testament . . . / Compositions par J.-James Tissot"; with preface by A. D. Sertillanges. 2 vols. 40 plates; 360 illustrations to text. Paris: M. de Brunoff & Cie, 1904. Based on his surviving pen and ink sketches, Illustration was completed after Tissot's death in 1902 by Henri Bellery-Desfontaines, Auguste François Gorguet, Charles Hoffbauer, Louis de Parys, Michel Simonidy and Georges Bertin Scott.
