Our Challenge: Create a photo to go with your 10 Truths....and then, share it. Let's have some fun.

Ten? Truths? Oh my, I am SO bad at these kinds of things...this might take me all night, but I do love a good challenge (checking #3) ... here goes!

1. I have been on 3 game shows in my lifetime. (ok, this is REALLY going to date me) but the 1st was The Gong Show (and we won! Yay!) The 2nd one was Chain Reaction, the 3rd was Wheel of Fortune where I won a car...I know, I am as shocked as you are!

2. I'm a HUGE Dog Whisperer fan...not a stalker yet, but eegads, give me time. I love dogs and all animals and even re~locate spiders (drives my family nuts!) Ok, now i am certifiable... haha!

3. Okay, I don't know about this one, but my family says I am "highly" comptetive...uhm define "highly"? Just 'cuz I knocked an older woman down to win the ceramic Nubian Prince prize was totally understandable, and just 'cuz my game motto is: "If I know I can't win, and I can't cheat, then I don't play" is completely NORMAL...right? (Oh how they hate love me at baby showers!)

4. Most of my life I've been 5' 2" ~ recently I discovered I am barefly 5' tall...what the hey?

5. 5? Are we only at 5? Omgoodness...are you sick of me yet? I think I am!

6. I hope it goes without saying how much I love my God, family & friends, and am committed to being the best parent, partner, sister, friend, daughter, confidant & citizen I can be. I hope...(although I think I did just say it... there I go again ~ checking #3) Oh my, what is wrong with me!

7. I LOVE and am always UP for an adventure. I LOVE adventures. They make life thrilling, and unexptected, and wonderful and surprising and all that gooooooood stuff! Okay, throw in there Road Trips, how I LOVE road trips... Road Trip Anyone???

8. That little bird up there? I really do love "birds" ... I love waking up and hearing their chirp~songs, I love getting after the crows who are chasing after the hawks, don't the hawks know they can cream these crows? I try to chortle and smack and try to get their attention (I know, how pathetic!) I love when the Lost Parrots do a `fly~by` in the evenings, I run out the door like a mad~woman, just to see and hear them... oh my poor family!

9. I mostly LOVE my dreams...so much happens there. I can fly in them and that is the biggest gift of sleeping EVER...flying in your dreams...btw, I dream in color, do you?

10. I truly don't mean to be corny, but I really really really LOVE & ENJOY this flickr community. You've taught me so much, inspired me, ramped up creativity and become such amazing friends, I am overwhelmed with love for you all! Thank you for letting me share a bit of myself. I look forward to each of you sharing 10 things OR MORE!

for Beyond Layers ~ my 'fantasy' version

today's challenge: after reviewing the new techniques, use the sample image and give the steps a go..... feel free to put your very own spin on this.... It's always fun to see different versions of the same photo.

...is when we are in dreams awake... ~henry david thoreau

i LOVE my new strap, thank you both meg and staci...everytime i grab my camera, i think of you and smile bigtime! (i haven't decided yet where to "place" the buttons, like it's a big deal but then, it really is.

i want them to be just right) oh just YAY!

"Any act often repeated soon forms a habit; and habit allowed, steady gains in strength, At first it may be but as a spider's web, easily broken through, but if not resisted it soon binds us with chains of steel." ~Tryon Edwards

here's to new habits allowed {i know i need at least one or two} ;-)

HFF everyone!

...a bird's-eye view...

{working on past challenges...brush lovin'}

{thanks KimK}

{and btw, havin' tons o' brushin' fun}

“Since love grows within you, so beauty grows. For love is the beauty of the soul.”

~St. Augustine

i know i've said it before, and you are all probably tired of me repeating myself, but i just love to watch and be a part of mother nature. i love watching her grow and reach toward the sun, reproduce and grow some more. Einstein said it like this: "Joy in looking and comprehending is nature's most beautiful gift." ~ "Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better."

This succulent started as a little clipping that has grown into a beautiful plant and given more clippings, that have started new plants. again, this is one of the things i love about photography, we are compelled to look deep, through our lens, and often times get a deeper understanding.

i felt i could almost look into the "unfolding" and see "within" ...

another candid from our flickr meetup. we came upon this amazing "community garden". just as we arrived, 2 of the caretakers drove up, ready to do some planting. they were so kind to let us in, and snap away. they told us all about their process and how much it meant to their small community, right in the middle of the city, to get to grow fruits and vegetables.

cristin in her OWN right, is an amazing gardener. she could name almost every plant, vegetable and fruit in there. i was in awe. she truly has a green thumb, and i learned SO much that day (about more than just photography.)

happy fruit&veggieFriday everyone!

oh how i love you ~ all your flickr buds ~ your creativity and inspiration bring such joy!

over the past few days, i've noticed a ritual of selecting a word or phrase for 2012. i hadn't first thought of this in the first person, but after some rumination AND after seeing and taking this image, and after traveling through some difficult challenges in 2011... it finally hit me {{der}} that in 2012,

i can truly, LET iT GO!

it was illuminated for me, as if the lights (or candles) went on... i can LET iT GO...

ok, i know that is 3 words...but if you will allow...i want to use all 3 to say in 2012,

i can truly "Let it Go" !

thank you to all of you, and you know who you are, for your challenging illumination and love...

Week 4 ~ Our Challenge ~ Storyboard

This week's challenge, create at least one storyboard with your photos.

"Labyrinths set in floors or on the ground are large enough that the path to the center and back can be walked. They have historically been used both in group and private meditation."

Recently, I had the opportunity to walk a labrynth, with intention and meditation, to creatively connect with creation and nature. I was given permission, with this exercise to stop and look along the way and to re~connect with something and someone greater than myself.

It was a wonderful, healing, reflective and creative time and I will treasure it always.

thank you for adopting me...nonna & pappy

after today:

i never have to sleep on a concrete slab again

i never have to hear dogs barking 24/7

i never have to only eat dry kibble & eliminate by where i eat

i never have to try and lick you through a chain link gate

i never have to wonder if anyone will love me

after today:

i have my own soft bed to sleep in

i have a home that is peaceful and quiet

i have eaten chicken and rice for the first time

i got to walk and pee in grass

i can kiss you whenever i want

i know you love me

after today:

my world is forever changed ~ thank you ~ i will follow you anywhere ~

"hey daughter"

"yea dad?"

"you are A~Number 1"

"i am? awwww, thanks dad!"

"i love ya"

"i love ya too, dad"

{{sniff sniff ~ what to even say to that ~ he is the most precious}}

“Every day one should at least hear one little song, read one good poem, see one fine painting and -- if at all possible -- speak a few sensible words.” ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

i so loved that quote and certainly needed it this week. when unexpected news comes, i find it imperative to get a new perspective. if not for a new perspective, then i am stuck seeing everything the same. sometimes that can leave me despairing and bleak. but when i choose to see it from a different point of view, i find there is hope ~ even joy.

this new little orchid, somehow spoke to me and reminded me, it's time to get a new perspective.

hoping this li'l guy inspires you as well.

here's to a "new perspective wednesday" my flickr friends!
