Two half frames of a sudden heavy rain along the Kurt Schumacher Straße right by the Konstablerwache. The Yashica Mimy turns it up all the way to eleven on the cuteness scale, but looking at the result you quckly notice it's a fixed focus.

Close-up of part of the Tornado (or possibly the Flying Scotsman) from a trip to the Nene Valley Railway. The steam was gushing out here, but in the photo I can also see sparks. The magic of cameras...

A couple of years ago my OM-2 overexposed most of a roll pretty badly, I changed the batteries, but then it seemed the shutter was going only at 1/1000ths of a second in auto exposure mode. I figured I was stuck with manual mode... well, it looks like the OM-2 is one of these cameras that cleverly forces 1/1000th for the first few exposures to allow setting up a fresh roll as quick as possible. In any case, auto exposure worked just fine in a variety of circumstances with this roll of Kentmere 100. And I now have a 35mm f/2.8 found at the flea market - yes, you indeed get good stuff there from time to time :).

The Frankfurt's people army laying siege to the Rathaus waiting for the next round of negociations. Frankfurt having a longstanding tradition as a small be free trading state, the whole Erstürmung des Rathauses is solved by negociations rather than outright assault.

A summer Saturday afternoon at the Bethmannpark.
There was that guy standing in the pavilion in his Sunday's best, nervously standing in front of a sign reading "Will you marry me?", surrounded by a bunch of friends and relatives, some of whom anxiously trying to reach the girl's phone. The whole affair turned into some live reality show for everyone who happened to be around, so when the intended showed up, she had a rather large audience. She managed to overcome stage fright enough to produce an audible "yes", she got kissed, confetti were shot, everyone applauded, she blushed even more, and that was pretty much it.
Now, in case you think that might be a great idea for proposing to your girl, think again. The consensus among the women in the public and those to whom I told that story is that's it's very mean to put someone in such a position (who would have thought?...). Now, I've said it, you've been warned.

Walking the dog on the Ardingly showground early one morning these backlit gravestones in the adjacent Ardingly Church graveyard caught my eye. Getting the sun out the shot and avoiding flare was a bit tricky, hence the tree in the composition blocking it out!

Rodinal 1 hour semi-stand development. 1+100 in 500ml of water, with a couple of extra ml of developer added.
At first I was annoyed when the lady with the dog walked into the frame as I flaffed about putting the filter on and focusing. However, I thought it could make an interesting foreground interest, and seeing the result, I'm glad I didn't wait until she left.

At the Palmengarten last a month ago. Despite having its lens coating of messed up on a big spot, that little Agfa I got as a goodie when I bought my OM-5 at Leistenschneider really delivers. Its main fault was an awfully stiff film advance, which I fixed after that roll by cleaning up old frozen grease along the axis of the rewind knob. Well, there are three issues that keep her from being a contender to the Queen of Half Frame title: The silver body looks fabulous (some girly side of me I don't know of writing here) but scratches badly, no strap lugs, and the shutter button is in front rather than on top. On the plus side, great lens, feels superbly built, reliable automatic exposure, shutter goes up to 1/500th (possibly the only half frame to do that aside of the Konica Auto-Reflex?).

I went to Anglesey Abbey to finish off a test roll in the Autocord, and also to capture the main building with the wildflower meadow in the foreground. The meadow and weather were great for capturing it, but unfortunately it was clad in ugly scaffolding, typical! But still, there are other views and details to capture here, including the mill, and soon wished I’d brought some more rolls of film.
