I call him the gate keeper, but he’s more like the Horsepen Bayou Sentry and is usually on duty and in his lookout perched high over the bayou. On this particular day, he stuck around a lot longer than usually and allowed me several opportunities to capture him/her. It’s just too bad that this one is perched so high up. Aquaduct Cottage was orignally built for the lock-keeper on the Cromford Canal. It became derelict when its last inhabitant left in the 1960's. After recent fundraising the cottage has been brought back to life by the Friends of Aqueduct Cottage, a part of Derbyshire Wildlife Trust.
I managed to take this shot while the shop keeper was lost in thought. After I showed him the picture, he let me take a few more shots, but 'posed', which I might upload another day.

A quick snap of a typical Lakeland scene. I saw the sunlight behind this herdy as I wander down from Sour Howes I just had to get the light behind it before it ran off and to kept that head still, 3 shoots the middle one was a keeper.
Volunteer Lighthouse Keepers stay for a week at a time in the New Dungeness Lighthouse Keeper"s House. In addition to paying a fee for the privilege of staying in the house, they greet visitors, give tours, mow lawns, polish brass, etc. On nice days there are many visitors and much for the Keepers to do. (The people in this image are visitors, not Keepers!)

This is a shot of a lock keepers cottage on the canal, near to Wistow Park, the small gate on the left is a right of way footpath down to the canal. The original cottage has been modified quite considerably.

I haven’t been able to go out and work on my night time series for the past several weeks. But my camera still calls to me, so I’ve returned to the studio, so to speak, to shoot flowers. I decided to use light painting. The result is really an eclectic mix of styles. Each day, I ran with whatever idea came to me, and improvised as I went along. So this is more an odds and sods collection than a series of thematically connected images. There has been a lot of discards along the way, but enough keepers to start posting. It is keeping me engaged, and I hope to soon get back out under night skies.

The morning after a record-breaking snowfall in parts of upstate New York. This house is in the town of Rotterdam Junction.
I absolutely loved the overgrown ruins at Dorothea quarry, very hard to convey the atmosphere in an image though, and Im not sure Im quite where I want it to be with this so it may come down again when I see it again in the cold light of day
