When you set sail on your journey
And happiness is far away
Love will guide you 'til the morning
Lead your heart down to the bay
Don't resist the rain and storm
I'll never leave you lost at sea
I will be your lighthouse keeper
Bring you safely home to me
I will be your lighthouse keeper
Bring you safely home to me
So much to see on Willow Wood

Thank you very much for your comments and faves, regretfully, I am finding it increasingly difficult to reply to your comments, because of my very limited time on the internet, due to constant power interruptions in South Africa. I do read and appreciate every one of them! Thanks again!!
Brockton Point Light Station
Stanley Park
Vancouver, B.C.
Canada
A Stanley Park showpiece.
A number of ship collisions in the waters around the point led to the construction of a lighthouse and signaling station at Brockton Point. For a time, Brockton Point had a lighthouse keeper, who served for 25 years starting in 1855 and is credited for having saved 16 people from drowning. The present day lighthouse tower with an automatic light was built in 1914. It was designed by Thomas Hayton Mawson, who also constructed the lifeboat house located below the point and other Stanley Park landmarks.

This shot was taken on the beautiful sim of Sandi Benelli ... I spent probably atleast two hours there and every two feet there is a beautiful place to either just have an aaahhh haaa moment or another shot more beautiful shot then the last one . I fell in love with it .. Sandi thank you so much for giving us a place to snap one beautiful post card after another. It is truly a gift ..and if one does not wish to shoot pictures ..grab your sweetie and just plan on staying a spell because it is truly gorgeous.

Another shot from my afternoon at Fradley Junction - hope you like this one too! I saw two locks there - Junction Lock and Keepers Lock shown here.
When a narrowboat is going upstream, the bottom gate is opened to allow the boat to enter, the paddles on this gate which allow water to empty are shut. The gate is closed and the paddles are opened. They are situated on both sides of the lock and the water is channeled through a tunnel into the lower lock. The boat begins to rise as the lock fills with water.
When the water is level the upper gate can be opened and the boat continues on its journey. It's quite hard work winding up the paddles with a 'lock key' which all narrowboat users have. Then pushing the gate open, closing it again once the boat's inside and jumping onto the boat again when it becomes level with you. You have to reverse this process when going downstream. All great fun !!
No actual 'texture' used here, but processed in Topaz Glow.
Thanks as always for all your support and faves, comments etc. Enjoy the lovely weather we're having if you live in the UK !

"Late night
What's your intention?
Got a bible to swear on
Not satisfied, oh temptation
Oh no, hold on
I'm a keeper baby
Honestly
All my life, all my days, always
I'm a keeper baby
Honestly
All my life, all my days, always"
Thanks for the backdrop and idea Puppy! ❤
I've taken some liberties with this piece of photo art. The lighthouse is of course the Low Head Lighthouse at the entrance to the Tamar River in northern Tasmania. The bronze sculpture which I call here "The Lighthouse Keeper" is in fact a piece of work by the late Irish sculptor, Jeanne Rynhart (1946-2020). I put them together because the colour palette seemed so complementary.
The bronze is in our personal collection, number 6 of just 250 of "The Old Seaman" cast at her County Cork studio. It is a delightful piece standing at 18cms high. Rynhart is most famous for the public sculpture of Molly Malone in Dublin (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molly_Malone), and of Annie Moore at Ellis Island in New York. In 1892 Annie Moore was the first immigrant to the United States to pass through federal immigrant inspection at the Ellis Island station in New York Harbor. www.history.com/news/remembering-annie-moore-ellis-island...
Sadly, Jeanne Rynhart passed away at the age of 74 just last year. www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/people/jeanne-rynhart-o...
