All winter long, the Lighthouse Keeper stood watch at the edge of the lake. The wind wrapped him in layers of frost and the waves stitched his coat from sheets of ice. Day after day, storm after storm, he never moved.

The lake tried to claim him, rising and roaring at his feet, but he only grew taller and whiter beneath the heavy sky. Even the gulls kept their distance, circling wide around his frozen form.

And so he waits there still, holding his place, until the sun returns to set him free.

There is NO AI in this image. The "sculpture" was created by ice that was formed by the wind and waves wrapping around the South Pier Beacon.

I've taken some liberties with this piece of photo art. The lighthouse is of course the Low Head Lighthouse at the entrance to the Tamar River in northern Tasmania. The bronze sculpture which I call here "The Lighthouse Keeper" is in fact a piece of work by the late Irish sculptor, Jeanne Rynhart (1946-2020). I put them together because the colour palette seemed so complementary.

The bronze is in our personal collection, number 6 of just 250 of "The Old Seaman" cast at her County Cork studio. It is a delightful piece standing at 18cms high. Rynhart is most famous for the public sculpture of Molly Malone in Dublin (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molly_Malone), and of Annie Moore at Ellis Island in New York. In 1892 Annie Moore was the first immigrant to the United States to pass through federal immigrant inspection at the Ellis Island station in New York Harbor. www.history.com/news/remembering-annie-moore-ellis-island...

Yesterday hubby and I took a lovely walk with Daisy Dog alongside a canal near our home which opens up onto the Blackwater Estuary, we walked to the Marina and had lunch and then walked back passing the quaint and beautiful Lock Keepers Cottage, simply so beautiful, hoping to have brought some of the beauty to this image, have a wonderful Sunday ~ KissThePixel2019

Taking this photograph was a learning experience for me. Seeing this amazing sight, and capturing the moment was so exciting. What I most appreciated about the experience, was how gentle and concerning this gentleman was during the process of removing this immense bee hive from the house. At first I thought, he is going to hurt the bees, but that was not his intension at all. If anything, he was saving it from destruction. Most home owners would have contacted a pest control company, the owner chose to have a Bee Keeper remove it, I was very happy to witness this moment.
