Maybe it is my monitor but this shows colour banding in the Flickr upload that is not present in the processed file? Let me know if you have banding when viewing - Flickr compresses our images somehow and some of them are subject to severe compression artifacts? This prints very well in any case.
This was taken on a glorious morning that I remember vividly. I already have cabin fever it seems from all this snow and cold ... -33C wind chill. The dogs are wearing their boots and coats today.

One of my long-time contacts on Flickr has been kind enough to create a gallery of Keefer Lake 'mist' photographs at ....

For reasons only a skilled therapist could bring to light, I saw a dragon when I was photographing this sunset, hence, the title.
I suppose the title is a double entendre given my sunrise and sunset photographs of Keefer Lake might seem 'never ending' to my long term Flickr contacts.
The compression to our photos that Flickr applies blocks up the blacks horribly ... this prints with a lot of very nice shadow detail ... alas!

I was up with the sunrise this morning at Keefer Lake. It was glorious but I haven't 'developed' the photos as yet so here is a shot of another sunrise taken in Portugal a few months ago. That's my cousin, António capturing the sunrise with me ... in the first comment box is a b&w shot from the same morning looking the other way.
I really have become a morning a person after being a 'night owl' most of my life!

The weather channel is calling for ice storms in parts of Ontario today ... fortunately not for our part. Although the result is quite beautiful (at least for a photographer) it is also very dangerous. Trees lose limbs if they don't collapse entirely. We often lose electric power for hours and even days when it has been particularly bad. Driving is impossible ... even walking without special cleats on your boots is not recommended. Country/lake dwellers like us have an emergency portable generator backup and typically fare better than city folk when this happens. :)
This is from an ice storm a couple of years ago ... we usually get at least two each winter.

This lake that I belong to never ceases to surprise me.

The Tamaracks are acknowledging the season in glorious colour now, our forests are dripping with gold. They have turned a bit later than usual - all the other trees have already dropped their leaves on the ground save for a stubborn few.
This particular Tamarack is in our backyard ... we transplanted it about 10 years ago and it is thriving in its new location. My American friends may know the tree by another name - the Eastern or Black Larch.

- Keefer Lake, Ontario, Canada - This was taken while we were out on a boat ride as the sun set one evening.

There are just a couple of other photos in the first comment box that were titled after the theme 'the evenin' is nigh.' I am destined to repeat myself. :)
On October 20th we had a surprise heavy snowfall overnight that took out our power and downed many trees. Within a day all of the snow had melted and it has been unseasonably mild ever since. Rosa has even been able to dry clothes on our outdoor line throughout November, however, the forecast is calling for snow later this week.

In my photo archives this morning - it's -24C outside - but it's sunny and bright! This is another in a series about 'Lucy' the loon chick. My long time contacts will know the story.

It's a dog's life ... this is 'Keefer' ... the neighbours dog waiting patiently on the bow of the pontoon boat for his ride.
My new phone has an amazing camera ... this is a 30x zoom. Great resolution, sharp, shoots RAW - noise and digital artifacts are handled very well. Outstanding super-wide angle lens and macro too. :)

I always enjoy the beginning of winter ... it's 6 months later when it finally ends in May that I don't manage very well. :)
As you can see the lake is not frozen yet but I'm quite sure it will be soon. Rosa says the water is getting 'thick.' :)

I haven't posted a Keefer Lake sunrise photo for a long while even though I have literally hundreds of them in my photo archives. Although other types of photography interest me more than landscapes/lakescapes it is impossible to resist photographing what Keefer Lake offers each morning and, in fact, all day long. This one was from last October when the peculiar cloud formation demanded that I try out my camera's ability to stitch a panorama in camera. It works surprisingly well although I was unable to get the whole phenomenon in a single frame. I must stop being so lazy and bring my tripod more often - then I could do a proper panorama.
To really get a good idea of what the camera is doing in 'panorama mode' take a look at the photo in the first comment box ... that is taken at 55mm which is a more 'normal' perspective of my 'front yard.'
Many more 'selfies' are in the first comment box proving my self indulgence over the years - without a shadow of a doubt when I truly reflect on it. :)
