This is a GoPro shot of the Holland River in April, about 2 weeks after the ice has gone.

Kayak fishing is my life , oh no , kayak fishing is my hobby . I am not privileged as such . I have got a passion . This year has been fantastic in every aspect . I set my goals as early as the first of January . Catching 25 species from the kayak in Scotland . This week we tackled the east . We teamed up well considering we are out to sea .

Species 25 came along nicely . Ding a ling as we say , the serpent looking cod . Half a mile out from the launch we have one thing in mind is to stay put on that kayak . The wind and tide are gathering pace , from time to time I check out on my friends Ian and Marcos .And they do the same with me .

This is multitasking , today’s fishing is not easy , the drift is fast .

The team is getting good , I feel safe out to sea .

I forgot to say , species 26 is now onboard too . A ( maossive ) scorpion fish . I did not know those fish could grow that size . We stay 6 good hours on the lumpy sea and say no to the last drift . We understand the risk and know our limits . This year has been so interesting in every aspect , we have learned so much as a team . No one knows where our next trip will be , that’s Scotland with the unpredictable weather . And we still have so much to learn , every day is a school day . Enjoy the images .

Two kayakers depart from the Rock Island Lighthouse on Isle Royale.

It’s late May and a group of kayakers paddle in Byron Bay, Australia, as the whale watching season begins. Soon the bay will be busy with whales as they rest on their long migration from colder Antarctic waters to warm northern bays to give birth. Then the whales will return with their new calves as they journey home, with eager tourists and locals watching them frolic.

In the Montreal borough (suburb) of Dorval. I'm not saying this is the proper way to do kayaking. Actually I'm not even sure these are proper kayaks. They were some distance off and I didn't get a close look. This was a telephoto shot at maximum zoom in my Panasonic. They don't look like traditional kayaks. And don't ask me what they were doing.

Girls kayaking in Pacific Grove, California. Love the blue water...

Kayak's can go places where hikers and swimmer, and even motors can not. This sunset scene taken between Big Goose Hole and Big Daily Bayou in the Ottawa marsh area north east of Fennville, Michigan is a perfect example.

There are so many back country streams and rivers in Florida that are easy to explore by kayak and canoe. This image is from the Hillsborough River that flows through Tampa County. Its an easy river to spend a quiet day on. There is no white water or much current so you have to do the paddle work but you will see a lot of birds like ibis and snake birds and even the occasional and non threatening alligator. You can fish along the way on on the bank. The put in here was at Lettuce Leaf Park. My best advise is to bring plenty of water, sunscreen and a good hat along with your snacks as it can get very warm and humid from March to October. Its a peaceful and green journey. If you don't have a kayak or canoe many Florida parks have them for rent at a reasonable price just google for prices and hours available. Enjoy the ride , kids love this too.

EXPLORE #392 of 25 November 2009

We went kayaking in Koh Samui and against my better judgement, I took the risk, took my camera out of the waterproof bag and took some shots!
