I took this in Corsicana, Texas on the town square in 1987.
The K. Wolen's is long gone, and a church now occupies the building. They did keep the sign, though. Here's a view from Googlemaps. If you arrow to the left, you can see the Withrow Furniture sign, too:

The first days of shooting the full-length 3D feature film "amae saudade" are behind us. Shooting completion, as scheduled: Autumn/end of 2014
„amae” means joy and a sense of security resulting from being completely accepted by the other. This term lacks an equivalent both in Polish and English. It has got an equivalent in Japanese and Chinese, however. And old Chinese ideogram by means of which the word amae was written, presented a child sucking on its mother’s breast to emphasise the unity between the mother and the child in the early months of its life.
„saudade” is Portuguese auto-stereotype perceived as a national value; a kind of nostalgia and melancholy connected with valuing and cherishing the past; contemplation of passing away and the beauty of disintegration, received with subtle pride and joy, in a positive way. Saudade is not a temporary condition of the spirit, but is always present in the person whom it concerns.

I'm gonna have to update this shot, the guy in the foreground ruined it, or rather I was too lazy to take another.....but just another slice of the diversity of the city.
Koreatown, or K-town as it is colloquially known, is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Manhattan, that is generally bordered by 31st and 36th Streets and Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenues. Its location in Midtown Manhattan leads it to be easily overshadowed by nearby destinations like the Empire State Building and Macy's. The densest core of "K-town" is located on 32nd Street between Fifth Avenue and Broadway, and is officially named "Korea Way." The Koreatown area of Manhattan is primarily a Korean business district, as few people actually live in the area. Most Korean residents of New York City live in the outer boroughs, especially in and around Flushing, Queens. (Wikipedia)
The one thing I do know for certain, is Korean food can be very, very hot....a searing heat that causes one to sweat profusely...but good stuff nevertheless...

JEFF SOTO "COLD ICE AGE"
November 18th - December 16th
OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, November 18th, 6-10pm
We are proud to welcome esteemed artist Jeff Soto back to L.A. for his second solo at BLK/MRKT www.blkmrktgallery.com/ , marking our fifth year anniversary exhibition.
Featuring a new series of paintings on canvas, panel and paper, Cold Ice Age continues Soto's intrepid exploration of his private imaginary world but with a twist - the amplified conscience of a new parent; the show's title refers to his intensifying apprehension about the future of the world on behalf of the next generation.
In addition to receiving both national and international acclaim and exhibiting in galleries across the country, Soto has been featured in fine art and popular culture publications including Artweek, Juxtapoz, American Illustrator, Communication Arts, Beautiful Decay and BLK/MRKT ONE. Soto's first book, Potato Stamp Dreams was released earlier this year, published by Mark Murphy. Soto lives and works in Riverside, California, with his wife Jennifer and daughter Shannon Daisy.
