Our Magnolia Tulip tree is just beginning to wake up. There are a handful of blooms on a few of the lower branches, but just on one side.
The tree is so large that the blooms on the lower branches are pretty much at eye level.
When I went to get some photos, this bloom, the lowest I could find, seemed delighted to be blooming so early, and welcomed me with open arms, so to speak.
I went out to a place I had never been before where I had heard there were a lot of Great Blue Herons. When I got there I was amazed. There were so many I couldn’t count them all and not only were there a lot of birds but their nests too. I sat there in awwww as I watched the birds fly back and forth. Their nests are very high up in the tallest of trees. This shot I zoomed in on as close as I could. It hasn’t been cropped at all.
I want to thank my flicker contact “Just Getting Started” for sending me in the right direction for this awesome experience; you can see his shots at flickr.com/photos/justgettingstarted/ so please have a look

What's all this talk of turning 40? The way I see it, it's all in how you feel. And yeah, I don't feel 40.
I'm just getting started.

Sprouting palm tree. This is what happens when coconuts are left to their own devices on the beach. Spotted among the ruins of the old Boo Boo Jam club. On Orient Beach, St Martin.
Lately, I'm fascinated by curbs and parking lots. I have no idea why.
A shot from yesterday's shoot that I was holding back. For some reason, I like it better than the others.

In this case a new a new weight reduction program.
This is not the first time I have shown myself on a scales.
Last time I did weigh more but I am still not where I want to be.
So next month I'll see where I am.
The automatic writing project started out as an activity among friends and locals. I would write a line someone else would write a line and so on... Then people would overhear us and ask if they could participate and write something too (which surprised me) of course I said "yes!" At that point I realized that lots of people have something to say. I started asking strangers to add entries, then I graduated to offering people $1.00 to participate, some people do not accept the dollar and some pay me a $1.00 (paying it forward). It's becoming quite a lovely, surprising and compelling project. People from many walks of life are participating: homeless, a news reporter, academics, students, doctors, drug addicts, lawyers, tourists etc... People have written things in my journal that they'd never say out loud, not to anyone. Some of it's so sad, some intriguing, hilarious and so on... At the end of the day, every one of these people understand that their entries are being uploaded to the internet and are comforted in knowing that they will be heard. I have no idea where this is going, but it's going just fine! FYI: English is not everyone's first language here. I will be illustrating the book/journal after the text is done. I hope that everyone who reads these entries learns something about people, mostly that we never know what someone else is going through.

I thought this particular capture of my daughter, Catherine, looked a bit like it might the sort of pose you might find on a CD cover, so I cropped it square and added some text. It's a little different and it gave me an excuse to mess around with type a little bit. I thought the title might be appropriate for someone about to turn eighteen.

I aquired a step-up ring and a 4x neutral density filter for my camera that otherwise wouldn't accommodate them. With them, I was able to compensate for my limited aperture and take this shot with almost a second exposure. My friend Bryan took a similar shot of the same waterfall. Crafting 365/Day 145.
Starting my Egg for the PCAGOE Challenge. Drawing out a basic design on the Egg. I am going with a Damask inspired Pattern. Next I will have to draw it more precisely on paper. The challenge starts April 1st at pcagoe.com . Hopefully I'll get it done in time.

17. Just getting started
Stick to lighter weights when just getting started on a fitness regimen :)
Pookie might not be carrying on with my grand plan of taking a picture on each hour, but I'm still trying to plug away. And here I pull back the curtain on the hard-partying wildness that is life at Maple Hoo. On a weekend or vacation night we all retire to our respective corners of the house, get out our Fairway Solitaire machines, and then commit to a couple of hours of awesome music on headphones. It's never a dull moment, people.

First things first... Todd shows the class how he prepares his palette and how to mix the first color that we will use today, a midtone gray, from raw umber and underpainting white.

Next stop: the rock gym! Climbing is a new love of mine. Exercise wise, this is by far the most rewarding workout I’ve done. Usually you can find me at the @kraftfamily_lc YMCA in Holly Springs but the last two weeks climbing has been my only exercise. I’m basically learning from the ground - up (get it?) and there is much to learn about getting up those walls! @trianglerockclub is the place to be if you want in. I have only been to the Morrisville location but a Raleigh location already exists as well as a Durham location being built right now. The staff is super friendly and more than willing to teach. If you climb and see me around, come say hi To see more check out @awnorowski ! #rdu #raleigh #durham #trianglerockclub #rockclimbing #exercise #itsgoingtobeagoodday #staytuned #justgettingstarted #optoutside #rei1440project #reiemployee / on Instagram www.instagram.com/p/BnWg_Q7nJYG/
