Silvereye (Zosterops lateralis)
I was in the front garden looking for insects and spiders with the macro lens on when I heard the call of the Sivereye. At first I discounted it thinking I had heard wrong when I heard the chatter of three or four of them. I looked up into the Pittosporum tree to see them, raced inside to change lens and managed to get a couple of shots. I have never seen them in our immediate area before. Shortly after they took off in a northerly direction.

Given an assignment of a dot in space, I noticed this daisy by itself in a patch of dandelions, laid the camera on the grass to shoot through it, and tried to center it on my LCD. Surprisingly, it kind of worked but it would have been so much easier with a tilting screen. I may have to sweet talk my other half into letting me spend the money on another camera.

Now I have 4 chipmunks running to me begging for sunflower seeds. And I don't know which one is Perry! I do know which ones are girls and boys so lets just say there is a Perry 1 and a Perry 2:)
I really don't do that great capturing bugs, butterflies, bees or basically anything that moves ;)) That's why I was so pleased to be able to photograph this dragonfly (no idea what kind it is) as he was just resting and letting me get close.

Well, I do love a flat lay so how could I miss this theme? It just called out to me. HCT
Back later to catch up, expecting a delivery any minute, in the form of a four year old whirlwind grandson. Exhausted just thinking about it! ;)
This young three toed sloth had just left its mom and was testing its abilities :-). Mama was not too far as he enjoyed his independence. This was taken near Manual Antonio National Park.
When the male is ready to mate, the sperm is transferred from the opening of the primary genital on the 9th segment close to the end part of the abdomen to the subsidiary genitalia situated on the segment 3 and 2, which is close to the base of its abdomen. In the beginning of the process, the male holds the female with his claspers on the back of the female’s head, while the female twists her abdomen forwards and downwards to collect the sperm from the secondary genitalia of the male Damselfly. This specific position is referred as “wheel” or “heart”, and the termed used when they indulge in this process is “to be in cop”.
The female Damselflies, when ready to deposit eggs, hover around the water body to find suitable habitat for egg laying. Some also lay eggs inside the tissue of plants. For laying eggs in the water, the female Damselflies may submerge under the water for at least 30 minutes, and at intervals, climb on the aquatic plant’s stem. During this period, the male guards the female and the eggs from other rival male Damselflies.
