Marijuana advocates MassCann/NORML, the Yes on 4 Coalition, and the Marijuana Policy Project held a “Kill the Bill” rally on the State House steps to protest the House's marijuana legislation. The Joint Committee on Marijuana Policy has reported out an omnibus bill that will repeal and replace both the Medical Marijuana act of 2012 AND also the Question 4 law that passed November 2016 which the House will debate and vote on this afternoon.
Opponents of the bill disagree with many of the bill’s regulations including increasing the tax to 28% on recreational sales and 6.25% on medical sales, making the personal possession of hemp seeds and cultivation of hemp for personal use a crime, and the investigation and fingerprinting of everyone who wishes to work in the cannabis industry, applies for a license and everyone they associate with in the course of business.
