Coastal strand at Franklin Point near Ano Nuevo. Amazing area of native coastal habitat. Those dark patches are a low-growing form of Arroyo Willow that only gets about 3-4 feet tall. but grows very, very dense. The bright green is the low growing Coast Coyote Brush, Baccharis pilularis ssp. pilularis. Also in the photo: Artemisia pycnocephala, Lupinus arboreus, Castilleja affinis, Juncus effusus var. pacificus, and Ericameria ericoides.
