The weather has been so cold & miserable lately that dolly is literally jumping for joy that the sun's finally come out!

The slightly glowing outline is because the sun was directly behind her.

This photograph was taken for the Camilles Appeal theme of the week - Joy.

What are your hopes for health care?

That's what we asked eight awesome speakers.

But Health Talks’ speakers didn't use PowerPoint presentations full of bullet points. They used the PechaKucha 20×20 format, where each presentation contains 20 photos and each slide is displayed for exactly 20 seconds before automatically advancing to the next one.

The evening also kicked off with a celebration of the 2015 Quality Award winners – learn about their work here: ow.ly/JTuc4

I am a craniac! I love all critters and birds, but I especially love Sandhill Cranes. I have been photographing and observing them extensively over the past four years, and I can practically set my watch/calendar by their behaviors. In our region, this is the time of year that they begin to “ween” their offspring out of the family. It is a gradual process that happens between November and the end of January. When the weather starts to turn a bit cooler like this, they start to dance. My theory is that they are showing their children the courtship dance, imprinting it for a few years from now when they will become of breeding age. It is the circle of life, and I am so honored to witness it.

The male is in the air. He was down by the pond, and he just spontaneously combusted into his joyful dance, jumping and flapping, and basically being a big dork for his mate. They LEAP quite high in the air, and it is a splendid sight to see. This shot makes my heart sing remembering this joyful moment and SO many others over the years. I am truly blessed. Sandhill Cranes have a fossil record over 10 million years old. I imagine, 10 million years of dances like this!!! WOW!

Hugs and thanks for viewing my bird nerd, craniac joy!!! For more information on these and other cranes visit www.savingcranes.org

Happy crochet Minions - 7½", 5½", and 9½" - from my sister. Such a clever girl. Thanks a minion. Oct. 2015.

Another from the Dance in my Back Yard (DIMBY) event. This was all improv, and these people were being a rainbow; each one would do something (like jump, for example), and the others would follow suit up and down the line. The pot of gold stayed motionless in the centre (just barely visible here). Really fun and wonderful. Here, too, you can see the setting, which was somebody's backyard, with flowers and fruit trees and a dj playing music. The audience sat at each end of the lawn; if you look at the larger size, you can see some audience members in the distance.

Not as sharp as some of the others, but I love the movement in this one!

as another daylight ends here in the Maldives......

Shila, the three-paw Pit Bull jumps for joy in the fountain downtown. Not my usual stuff, but I really like this.
