Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. It is a large broadbill (21.5–23 cm), with purple, yellow and black plumage. It eats predominantly insects, including grasshoppers, crickets, katydids, various beetles, caterpillars and larvae.

 

Status: Near Threatened

E’ un bovino del Sud-Est asiatico e delle isole indonesiane. Diurno, a meno che non sia disturbato dalla presenza dell’uomo, il banteng si nutre di erbe oppure di piante erbacee e bambù quando si sposta nel periodo dei monsoni. Vive per lo più in branchi in cui figura un solo maschio adulto, che si accoppia con tutte le femmine. I gruppi possono comprendere fino a 40 individui; gli altri maschi vivono soli o con altri maschi. A causa della caccia e della riduzione dell’habitat oggi è in pericolo di estinzione.

kan tawes merupakan salah satu ikan asli perairan Indonesia terutama dipulau Jawa. Hal ini juga yang menyebabkan ikan tawes memiliki nama ilmiah Puntius javanicus. Namun setelah beberapa waktu, berubah menjadi Puntius gonionotus, dan nama latin ikan ini terakhir berubah menjadi Barbonymus gonionotus sampai sekarang. Ikan tawes memiliki nama lokal tawes (Indonesia), taweh atau tawas, lampam Jawa.

Een reuzenmurene. Tijdens de duik zie ik op een gegeven moment, een kleine haai van ongeveer een meter, boven een rif liggen. Een andere duiker in de buurt ziet het ook. Zodra de haai ons ziet, gaat deze er pijlsnel vandoor. De anderen hebben hem niet gezien, dus ook geen foto. Het was waarschijnlijk een witpuntrifhaai, een ongevaarlijke die we al eerder gezien hebben.
