A new collaboration with Lomography & The Photographic Journal
I’ve dabbled in film photography over the years but have always stuck to digital for the sheer volume of ideas I can create and execute. However, there’s a tangible quality I always love about shooting with film. It forces one to slow down and live in the moment. Also, the unknown aspect is liberating.
This shoot involved testing out the new Lomomatic 110 pocket camera. I’d never shot with a 110 film camera before so I set out to make some magic with mundane moments and a limited timeframe.

Jason drove out to the exurbs on the south shore, with me riding along to translate, and picked up this titanium Dean from a French lady. It was decked out in boutique brands like Nukeproof, Chris King, etc, but is now just a functional winter single-speed (@ ~63 gear inches); it weighs almost nothing. ETA: By which I mean 24 lbs., including the studded Schwalbe winter tires.

Recently I went to the Profoto Roadshow, where I was allowed to take this photo. A number of prominent photographers gave workshops and of course we were allowed to get to work ourselves. With an experience richer, a head full of inspiration and more knowledge I went home after this beautiful day.

Jason and Seth wanted a mall portrait studio style photo to use in a guest sign-in / photo frame at their housewarming party. I didn't have a muslin backdrop, so I sort of mashed one together in Photoshop. I also did just a bit of skin softening. ;) I kind of like the synthetic plasticky fake look of everything.
