BBQ Chicken sandwiches and homemade Mac & Cheese. Blogged at zinkr.tumblr.com/

This morning I thought I'd share with you my daily routine. I get started with a little breakfast and catch up on anything important. I don't go through all my email, etc, I simply look for anything important. Then, I take a bit to read a little from The Word.

Day 4 – Hubby has been left in charge of his Uncle’s vegie patch while he is on holidays. We have been enjoying pinkeye potatoes, beetroot, zucchini and carrots. The boys have been talking about what we will grow in our new vegie patch when we move.

And just for fun, can you tell me something about my youngest son that features in every photo for the last 4 days? It has given me an idea for another day’s photo.

Day 6 – Today it was Kodi’s choice for the photo of the day and he chose bubbles. There was a bit of a breeze outside so blowing bubbles proved difficult, they either blew away or popped in his face. We managed to captured this shot though, which Jakeb described as a genie coming out of the bubble blower and Kodi thought it looked like smoke.

Day 5 - For a very long time we avoided toys guns in our house. The boys would always find a way to make their own though with their fingers, with sticks or anything else they could find. At the moment Nerf guns are all the rage and they have accumulated a couple. They do have strict rules when using them (no shooting near people’s heads etc) and they seem to have lots fun with them.

january bochallenge - day one - first self portrait of the New Year

On day one of 2012 I got my first tattoo.

It’s the outline of a picture of me and my old horse. Last summer was my last season riding as a junior, and it pretty much was my best show season in the history of my 14 years in the saddle— for once I was riding well, I was confident, and nothing could stop me. I got this tattoo to remind myself that I can do great things, and to remind myself that no matter what horses will always be there for me.

I was chatting with the artist while I was getting this done and I said to him “I’m going to show next season— well I don’t know, I’m horse-less right now” and he said “Well when I’m done you’ll never be horse-less again, because you’ve got one with you forever.” And while he was joking, his comment really hit home with me.

it's still all raised up and such because when this picture was taken the tattoo was three hours old

Day 19 – We decided today to visit the park that has the really long slide that goes down the side of the hill. On the way I told the boys the story of how when I was pregnant with Kodi (40 weeks + 1 day) I was a little impatient to meet him so among other things I went down this big long slide. I’m not sure if it was the slide or som...ething else but at 2am the next morning I started getting niggly pains. I met my second beautiful son at 8:14pm.

Unfortunately the slide has been removed since then. So the boys decided to entertain themselves by rolling down the hill.

Theme...Orange...had to run to the store and buy a bag

I so appreciate that we have clean, fresh water that comes all the way into our home! Our church is helping sponsor a project to get clean water piped to a small village, Marakwet, in Kenya. It's a great project. So, today, I am celebrating what we often take for granted. I was headed into the shower and thought this would be a great time to document some of that water in my own home!

Another quicky, I took while holding the camera in my left hand, extended all the way out. I wanted the slightly diffused/bounced light off of the blinds to light me, making a nice profiled silhouette.

This shot of me, wearing my sweet new Carhartt coat, fits the bill. See the zipper? Huh, do ya?

Day 10 – Ahhh silence! If it’s quiet in my house it’s because somebody is doing something they shouldn’t be or the boys are playing their Nintendo DS. They were our saviour last week when we had a 2.5 hour appointment with our builder, we didn’t hear a peep from them.

Day 17 – Last year I did a mini interview with my boys and I thought it would be fun to ask them the same questions again this year to see how they have changed.

Hey! Do you like my new shoes? I've been trying to break them in, for a few days. That's why I'm wearing them with my denim pants. Later this week, I'll give them the polish of their life!

Yesterday, I thought it would be nice to have a sunrise photo of "my sky". But I stayed up late working on photos and it was very foggy, so I decided to take my chances on waking up in time for the sunrise which I checked and found out would be at 7:41 am. I didn't set the alarm. I woke up at 8:10, or so I thought. I knew I had missed the sunrise, so I took my time getting up to go look out the window. At some point before looking out, I realized I had seen the time wrong--it was actually more like 7:55 or 8:00. I looked out the window and saw the ball just peeking out over the distant ridgeline. I hurredly pulled on jeans and put on shoes and a coat and grabbed my camera. I couldn't believe that I made it out in time to catch the sun while it was low in the sky. The reflections in the lake were incredible. This way, you get to see "my sky" twice--in the air and in the water! It turned into a completely gray, cloudy day with bouts of light sprinkles, so this was the most interesting sky today--early in the morning.

Someone has decided he'd like to be a photographer when he grows up lol. Today we ventured into the bush down the road and took some shots, he actually got some good ones!

Day 8 – After having my brother and niece stay last night I knew that I wanted to include my niece Madison in today’s photo. It almost didn’t happen after she fell and grazed her knee.

Madi is a little princess. She loves to wear princess dresses and princess shoes. She has the most amazing curls. She is quite shy but is starting to come out of her shell lately. We adore her!

Taken from the rear liftgate a 9 day old 2011 Grand Cherokee. Love the "Bling"

Day 25 – I have myself a couple of jokers! It’s like a domino effect, one starts laughing and makes the other one laugh, then they make me laugh. This photo cost me a couple of bowls of honeycomb ice cream but I think it was worth it.
