When I was young, during summer at my aunt's house I used to have quite long hair (we're talking 1959/60 when short back and sides ... and something for the weekend, sir? was the staple conversation in the barber's for the older gent!) We used to hang out a few doors along the seafront where we were friendly with the family who ran the local cafe. One time when leaning on the jamb of their French doors facing the beach, the owner called out to me "Anyone would take you for a girl, leaning like that with your long hair ... all you need is a ribbon!'" He never cottoned on to the huge compliment he had just given me!

"Gears"
A few days ago Dave went to grab his wallet? He had just been on the computer, so I asked him, "are you buying something online"? He said "yes, kind of a gluten free (I'm playing around with diet changes) noodleroni for you"? Hmmmmmm... sounded kind of weird, I asked him why he didn't ask me about it first? I'd hate him to waste his hard earned money. But, a part of me thought this was neat cause he isn't into this "health food" thing at all!!!
A few days pass, and I come home from work, and he tells me I have to close my eyes because he wants me to taste something? Now Dave has an "interesting" sense of humor, and I am wondering just how much can I trust him?! Then I warn him not to stick something in my mouth that I am trying not to eat right now. He assures me he won't (still not fully trusting him...) I close my eyes and open my mouth... It was sweet but quite weird? So I had to open my eyes. It was cloudberry jam from Sweden!
Two Christmases ago, when I was still in Florida, I had asked Dave what was something special he would like? Cloudberry jam was one possibility. I couldn't find it anywhere online, but I could find lingonberry so I had that sent to him.
Since I moved here, he and I went to a Swedish Import store and found it there, but we had an armful of treats to bring for Christmas with his family so the expensive jar of jam was going to have to wait...
This was such a nice, surprise!*...
Prior to tasting it, I had asked him if we could grow the berries here? He found out that they only grow where it's VERY cold! Initially, I was disappointed... As pretty as they are, I don't quite like their odd taste...
Alls well that ends well...
The jammer got sandwiched between two blockers and it ended up in a small pile of skaters. 30 Jan 2022 I shot my first roller derby of the year at the Stop the Contagion all comers scrimmage in Sacto. Coed with WFTDA ruleset shot with two eVolv 200s at 1/2 power, one aimed down the straightaway off turn 1 and the other aimed across the end of the track at turn 2.
