A Parasitic Jaeger (Stercorarius parasiticus) off Van Wagner's Beach in Hamilton. Jaegers breed in the Arctic and winter in the southern oceans; they only appear in southern Ontario during their migration. On Lake Ontario, they're easiest to see from shore at the west end of the lake, when strong east winds blow them close in to shore.
Jaeger is always a bit more animated when he's headed home...to an after-walk treat. Natasha is happiest with a stick. I like the pinkish setting-sun light in this picture.
100% alpaca
navy: two 50-g skeins
cream: twelve 50-g skeins
burgundy: two 50-g skeins
grey: two 50-g skeins
Jaeger was a great puppy and we were blessed to have him. Unfortunately he was a little sick when we bought him, and he died tonight.
