From Caribbean Free Radio:
I hope that by posting items such as the above and last week's Evo Morales number from Google News, I'm not giving the impression that I spend all day trawling the web trying to catch online media outlets with their pants down.
I swear, these things come to me, and I do also have standards: it's not just any old flub that's going to make it into the pages of CFR. Had Evo Morales not been partial to tielessness and striped pullovers (a look I'm not at all against, by the way), the assertion by Google News that he was a woman would have been of little consequence.
And had the man in the photo above--who, for the record, is not, as the caption indicates, "A Caparo resident mak[ing] his way across the submerged bridge on Caparo Main Road", but Jack Warner, FIFA Vice President and special advisor to the Trinidad & Tobago Football Association--not possessed an inordinate love of tickets for World Cup football matches (qualifiers included), the headline "How the Caparo became a menace" would not have caught my eye. When, I wondered, did we start calling Jack Warner "The Caparo"? (And what a great Mafia sobriquet, by the way).
Here, however, is the actual article, which deals with the very serious issue of flooding on Trinidad's central plain.

Jack & Linda Hutton, from Bala, ON., visited Stayner on Nov 18/08 to present their recreation of the 1919 silent film "Anne of Green Gables" starring Mary Miles Minter. A recreation because there are no copies of the actual movie and they have used a series of movie stills to simulate watching the original. Linda narrates while Jack plays the piano in the style of silent movie theatre music of the era.
These talented people run the Bala Museum in the one time home of Lucy M. Montgomery, the famous Canadian author of Anne of Green Gables. Check out the link and arrange a visit :
My kids and their jack-o-lanterns. Daughter made an owl and a Cyberman; Son made a Mario and a bat (he made the bat two weeks ago, not pictured here).
Jack is the lead mobile developer at Extreme Innovations. He has built dozens of iOS apps and enjoys it very much. Outside of work, Jack enjoys coding on the beach, coding by the pool, and sometimes just having a quick code in the park.
Maybe you have seen Jack on "Deadliest Catch" or not, because when Jack isn't a dive master in training he is working out of French Harbour on a crab boat competing against the crews of the Deadliest Catch. Who knows one day Jack might be a star as well as a great dive master
Our Jack has a million nicknames! But our young stud is finally enjoying the ladies! He is a home-grown rare lilac bicolor ragdoll boy.. currently about a year old.

Tall and slim actor and singer Jack Buchanan (1891–1957) was known for three decades as the embodiment of the quintessential Englishman, despite being a Scot. During his career, he was one of the major British screen stars of his day and incarnated the elegant, always immaculately clothed man about town in about three dozen films. In America, he is best known for his role opposite Fred Astaire in the classic Hollywood musical The Band Wagon (1953).
