It's a bit early, but my son wanted to carve a jack-o-lantern. He cut this himself, following a pattern from a pattern book.
This is the Jack-O-Lantern I carved. It's meant to be a crescent moon with bats flying across it. David's lantern is on the left, it's some kind of Dracula character.

Jack started his first day of preschool today. He said that he had a good time and enjoyed playing with new kids.

Yeadon line up for the camera at Liversedge Cricket Club before a two-wicket victory over Championship Two promotion rivals Birstall in the Bradford Premier League's Jack Hampshire Cup Final. Official Man of the Match James Massheder is extreme left on the front row.
With the outfield green and soft, Birstall struggled for runs. Eric Austin, in at No 3, top-scored with 45. Opener (and wicketkeeper) Ian Carradice's 24 was the next best contribution. Tom Lindsay (3-21), James Massheder (3-25), Gareth Lee (2-25) and Andrew Robinson (2-26) shared the wickets. Massheder's tantalizing leg-spinners, given plenty of air, were a joy to watch. Yeadon's reply began at an excruciatingly leisurely pace. When they slipped from 75-4 to 85-7, as spinner Benedict Gundry (4-21) wreaked havoc, a Birstall victory looked likely. But big-hitting tailender Robinson cracked a timely 21 (including two sixes and two fours) to advance Yeadon to 113-8. After Robinson's departure, there were a number of anxious moments for Yeadon before they squeezed home with 10 balls to spare. Overseas amateur Sarmad Hameed, in at No 3, top-scored with 26. Jimmy Russell finished with 2-15.
The teams gave umpire Alan Carter a guard of honour welcome onto the pitch. Carter, a former chairman of the Bradford League Umpires Association, is in his 50th season of umpiring.

Jack o'lanterns on a balcony Halloween night. Kids were trick-or-treating as we left the hotel for the night.

Oakland was a waypoint for family moving from Pleasant Hill through San Fran tourist stops, to Burlingame hotel overnight for early SFO flights tomorrow. DY and I are repositioned in an Alameda hotel for my meeting in Oakland tomorrow. Six of us arrived on Friday on the same plane, but are departing on five different routings on Monday. Jack Creek Farms is a cool little roadside stop along Highway 46, just west of Paso Robles. They have great apple cider here, too!
