Better be watched by an animal than a nosy man.

Despite its name, the Golden Jackal is not a close relative of the African Black-backed Jackal and Side-striped Jackal.
It is instead more closely related to Wolves and Coyote (source: Wikipedia)

East Africa
One of several jackals following a male lion to his kill of a cape buffalo.
We were watching the lions after they have finished their meal and this Jackal appeared from the bush trying to reach for the leftovers ...it keep snarling as it walked slowly towards the leftover kill.
Eventually it managed to grab a piece of leftover kill and ran off. The lions are all too full and did not pay any attention.
Taken at the Masai Mara Nature Reserve, Kenya.
Many thanks for your visit, comments, invites and faves...it is always appreciated..
Happy Travel Tuesday
This jackal was laying in the shade of a small bush. When he saw us approaching he hid behind it and carefully observed us the whole time until we left.

I managed to get only one shot of them with all their heads up! Here they are resting outside their den in a termite mound waiting for mom to return with food.

Wild South Africa
Kruger National Park
He was following a Cheetah pair from a save distance. I was, of course, more interested in the latter but nevertheless took a quick shot of the jackal.
I spotted this Silver-backed jackal in Namibia's Etosha National Park where it was hanging around a pride of lions eating an Oryx. It was never going to get an invitation to the feast and after circling a few times, it disappeared, I got quite a few shots of the jackal and blended three shots to make this composite photo.

Taken Addo Elephant National Park, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Addo Elephant National Park is a diverse wildlife conservation park situated close to Port Elizabeth in South Africa and is one of the country's 20 national parks. It currently ranks third in size after Kruger National Park and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. I spent four consecutive days within the park which provided an amazing variety of wildlife.
Black-backed jackal, Mountain Zebra National Park, South Africa
Black-backed jackals occur in two areas of Africa, in southern Africa and along the north eastern coastline of the continent.
They feed on small mammals, reptiles, birds, eggs, carrion and fruit. They do scavenge but are hunters in their own right.
They are persecuted for livestock killings and for being a rabies host species.
