It is the last week we are enjoying the purple show in Brisbane, before the flowering season is over.

the other tree we planted in the back yard is a jacaranda. It's sparse looking now, but doing well, as you can see by the blooms! Edited in PSE with a little Topaz simplify for a painterly look.

It wasn't all green in the park on campus . The Jacarandas trees were out in full bloom with a light covering of mauve fallen blossom on the ground near the lake .

Las flores del jacarandá cayendo sobre la farola pareciera que la abrazaran. En el aire ese perfume que todo lo colma y te transporta a situaciones o sueños. ¿ a cuantos les pasará lo mismo no?

When I arrived at Johannesburg by the end of last October, certain streets and pavements there where beautifully carpeted with a bright cyclamen mauve color!! Because of …..the blooming ….Jacarandas!!!! And Jacarandas are big and large flowering trees, as you see in this series. With healthy, light green delicate foliage, and lovely blooms in the form of tiny trumpets. And since October in S. Africa is what May is for Europe and the Northern Hemisphere, Jacarandas there are what ….Cherry Trees are for Europe!! My garden becomes pink during April-May, because of my two Japanese Cherry Trees!

Spring is rapidly coming upon us and with that many of the communities in Southern California have streets lined with these beautiful jacaranda trees. They can be a mess but well worth the beauty of your drive.

Jacaranda is a genus of 49 species of flowering plants in the family Bignoniaceae, native to tropical and subtropical regions of Latin America and the Caribbean. It has been planted widely in Asia especially in Nepal. A cosmopolitan plant, Jacaranda mimosifolia is quite common in southern California, Florida, Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Zambia and has been introduced to most tropical and subtropical regions to the extent that it has entered the popular culture. The generic name is also used as the common name. The species are shrubs to large trees ranging in size from 20 to 30 m tall. The leaves are bipinnate in most species, pinnate or simple in a few species. The flowers are produced in conspicuous large panicles, each flower with a five-lobed blue to purple-blue corolla; a few species have white flowers. 18636
