This dear wee Jacabob swoons at evening sunsets, pines for true love often under the warm glow of a computer monitor in the wee hours of the morning, enjoys a nice cup of tea accompanied by crumpets and jam, and of course squidgee squeezles.
Janet stands 2.5 inches tall and a bit chubby in stature. She has a cute little mini-button nose. A lovely sheep down the road named Bernice donated the soft wild caught salmon wool for her body. (there's a distinct difference between wild and farm raised salmon colour) Her face however is made of baby pink peach wool from Clara the sheep who bunks with Bernice. Janet is made by the needle felting method which means poking and poking a lump of wool with a very sharp barbed needle until her form appears. This has made her brave despite her small stature.
Her Favorite Song:
Salmon Janet evening
Someone may be laughin',
You may hear her laughin'
Across a crowded room
And night after night,
As strange as it seems
The sound of her laughter
Will sing in your dreams.
Oh, go ahead and sing along, c'mon ya know ya wanna.
The Strangeland creatures may live in the cultural wastelands but with the inception of the intertubes all residents of the woods at the end of my garden have the benefit of a liberal education before leaving the nest. This morning as a supplement to their science class, they visited "The Chairman 8" www.flickr.com/photos/chairman8/4952216377/ to join the discussion about Lagomorphs vs Cavies. The conclusion was that the Jacabobs and Jacabunnies all come from a common ancestor in the family tree of Boreoeutherias. In particular they are all Glires.
The Pentapod felt a bit left out without a spine nor hair but I assured him that next week we'll peek back even further and see that at some point we too had relatives in common.
The only one who balked was the semi hairless humanoid who was entirely too proud of his oppositional thumbs. He'll be even more shocked when I tell him that many of the Old World Monkeys and all of the great apes too have thumbs like his.

we have the best weather that's ever been since they recorded weather in denmark. ever. the best. since time began.
it even brought out pirates in our garden. because even a pirate can't resist a beautiful day.
Sometimes nature and time have their way with our DNA. The Jacabunnies and Nurblettes have had way too much time and nature for that matter. Its been a long winter in the cramped quarters of the dens and burrows at the back of the woods behind the gardens. So sometimes in the spring we have the odd surprise.
Cheerful by nature these twins are much like their fellows. They adore sunshiney days, cupcakes and steamy hot cups of tea. They're extra polite living top to top and have a helpful cooperative disposition. These sisters are never lonely and they're very self entertaining. The barn cats adore them too.
They generally play well with others but they cheat at card games. Peeking can be irrestistible.
* two heads are more than one * (Catdog 1998)
Chimeras are generally rare among humans but rather common amidst the Jacabunnies and Nurblettes
Figlet and April got married last weekend. They are still partying. Friends come and go, I don't know how long they are going to keep this noise up. Hopefully it's time for honeymoon soon!
Toy tuesday & thursday: LOVE

The Pea creatures subsist on the goodness of sunshine, not only in summer but through the wind-blasty cold winter on the tundra of the North. These wee Peas are no exception having a happy romp on a crispy fresh fallen snow of Strangeland. For some of the Strangeland creatures though, the winter is much, much too long.
The good natured Peas enjoy the company of all the Strangeland creatures including Jacabobs, Nurblettes and Feezle. Even the occasional hedgehog and woodchuck in the short summer months.
Yes, the Raccoon skull, rest his little soul, is pristinely clean, painted and preserved in acrylic blue, has all his teeth and was found on the snowy banks of the Red River of the North. I've been told his father was a traveling sort and his mother was from a good neighbourhood. He seems to be quite benign, somewhat quiet which is to be expected I suppose, considering his state. Poor dear.
The Peascape measures 6.25" long by 4.5" tall. Created by the needle felting method, quite tightly and firmly felted with the graciously donated wool of Bernice and Evelynn, the sheep who live down the lane.
It's the end of summer in this neck of the woods, the time when Jacabobs and their cousins from over the next hill and across the pasture come to camp and stay for the Autumn Strangeland festivals before the frosty silent winter sets in.
Aard and his pal Vark arrived this morning and were joyfully greeted by the local Jacabobs who hadn't set eyes on them since last years "Duck and Cover" dance at the end of the annual bad times the human species call "Hunting Season".
