I skipped going to Star Wars Celebration again this time.
Here's what I wanted most from the show:
Hallmark - Ralph McQuarrie C-3PO and R2-D2 Keepsake Ornaments
Funko - Pop! PEZ Star Wars Salacious Crumb, Jabba the Hutt, & Gamorrean Guard
Hallmark - Boushh itty bittys
I received quite the look from 'by-standers' (haha, my family) as I was on my knees and elbows trying to get a close-up of these itty-bitties. My original intent for this week's challenge was to get a shot of a clover, in honor of St. Patty's Day, but the day became a bit hectic with parade festivities and family and traveling to see more family.

Got in really late last night and didn't have the energy to explain what "CALJE" is and what was going on in this image. "CALJE" is short for the Chicago Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble and they are one of the "hottest" and most talented groups in Jazz music today. Yes, they're THAT good.
Last night they played at the legendary Chicago Jazz Showcase as they are preparing for their first CD release. And I have to tell you that they rocked the house! We are truly blessed to have this group in our city and as much as we love them we have to share them with the rest of the world. So, be on the lookout for them if they come to a city near you. I'm an avid music listener and I've never heard anything like them before. When they blow up it's going to be big and you can say you heard about them first on Flickr.com.
If you'd like to learn more about the Chicago Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble check out their website.
Really, no great story here -- was in Hawaii, saw this itty bitty buggy while taking waterdrop shots, and wondered how good a shot the macro lens could get of this li'l critter.
No idea what kind of bug it is -- some sort of baby bug, but of what?
i love these new tech decks, real brands, real skaters... with thier sticker sheets, tools & extra wheels, so cool =)

Found this tiny tea set in the bottom of a garbage bag full of doll clothes that I bought. I appear to be missing a cup and a saucer, and possibly some bowls or a creamer or something, but who knows, really. Anyone know anything about this?

After stopping by the (closed) Olympic National Park Visitor Center to pick up a map, we headed back to Port Angeles to grab a coffee to get the day started right. We Yelped it, and as soon as I saw Itty Bitty Buzz I knew I had to stop there to post on Buzz.
It didn't hurt that the coffee I got was good, and that on the way there we saw Cockadoodle Doughnuts and got some donuts on the way out...
She wouldn't let me take a picture from the front, so I settled for the back. I used a couple of ittybitty textures for this.
Well I'm 70 days into my 365 photo-a-day project.
And I haven't cheated once. I've also flossed every day for 70 days.
I know that for you regular flossers this isn't that big of a deal. But I used to floss around once a week...after eating popcorn. So I'm quite pleased with my flossing self!
Anyway, my hope is that my 365 project will make me a better photographer. It's already made me a better Photoshop user.
Take today's photo for example. I only took three pictures today. Wasn't in the mood for more. This was one of the three.
If you are interested, you can see both the before and after picture. here
Here was my process for this photo.
1. Open the photo is Camera Raw and try to remove the green color cast with the white color picker. Increase the exposure a bit and move the photo to Photoshop.
2. Move the photo to a new 4 x 6 size photo. Try like heck to straighten it while also keeping to the rule of thirds. Give up and just straighten it the best I can.
3. Run the Light exposure fix from Itty Bitty Actions, the sweet set. I love this action and use it a lot. It give the photo some pop and lets me darken some areas and lighten some areas.
4. I'm still not liking the overall coloring on the photo. My brown stairs have an ugly greenish look and so does Kylie's hair--due to the overhead lights and hardly any natural light hitting the stairway. So I run the Sweet Lavender action from ittybitty. It gives the photo this lovely purple cast. Look at the stairs on the right and you'll see what I mean. I play with the opacity of the three action layers until I'm happy.
5. I run the Vignette Smoother action which gives a very nice, subtle dark frame around the photo to draw the focus in. I use this action a lot too.
6. But I'm still not happy with the light bounce I'm getting from the stair banister on the left side of the photo. I run Pioneer Woman's Quick Edge Burn action and then move the burn out so it just covers the wood.
7. Then I run Pioneer Woman's Vintage action which on a opacity of 20% gives the overall picture that lovely softened look. I play around with erasing the action around Kylie's eyes which look so pretty in the original. But it just looks creepy so I keep the action on the whole thing.
8. I'm getting quite a lot of blur and the photo was blurry to begin with, so I run smart sharpen on a duplicate layer but then erase the sharpen from Kylie's face and hands and a bit of the stairs.
9. Take a deep breath and think about starting all over but then realize I'm not that in love with the picture. It's cute. I think I've made it a bit better. I'm done.
10. Take a big drink of Diet Coke and blog about it.
Our hike to Cockspur Lighthouse took us right to the waters edge. It was marshy and there was a lot of brush and driftwood, and the beach looked like it was made up mostly of shells with a little sand thrown in as an afterthought.
At one point we noticed LOTS of these little baby crabs scurrying everywhere. I can only guess they had just hatched. There were so small and blended in with the ground we really had to watch where we stepped.

I am not entirely sure what this is, but I found it growing next to my oak tree (I believe my dear oak has passed on, which makes me sad). This little bit of green is so small that I had a hard time even getting close enough to get any detail. All together it might be as wide as my pinky nail but that might be pushing it.
Well, what ever this little bit of life is, I look forward to seeing what it becomes. Maybe just a weed of some sort, maybe something much more interesting....I will keep you updated.
