As I am looking back to the photos from my trip to the Finger Lakes region in NY, I realize that waterfalls was probably my favorite theme as most of the places I visited during that weeklong vacation were next to a waterfall. And as a photographer, you can't go wrong with flowing water especially when you like long exposure like I do. This one here is Ithaca Falls located, where else, in the heart of Ithaca, NY. Roughly 45 meters high and 54 meters wide, it is the last of a series of waterfalls along the hanging valley formed by Fall Creek. Being so close to the city centre and with easy access by foot, it is one of the busiest waterfalls I've ever been and it was quite the challenge to take a shot without having a ton of people walking into my frame. I really had to walk as close as I could get to the base of the fall as the pool was full of people.

Today seems to be a nice day for photos so I am poised to go out and shoot during my lunch break. Until I do that though, I wanted to post something so my only option was my archives. This is the Wells Falls in Ithaca, NY. I wish I had more time to take the hike that leads you at the bottom of the waterfalls. From there, the view is more impressive. I think, however, that even from that natural terrace sitting at the middle of the falls, the view is decent. The abandoned building is The Van Nattas Pumping station which was built in 1893 on the side of an old flour mill. Originally it provided water for the city of Ithaca for both drinking and fire stations. As the population of the city grew, more pumps were added and the station started to provide electricity too. This may not be the most natural waterfall I have ever seen, its location and the presence of this old mill though, make it quite unique.

Sliders Sunday
Living near a large lake means marinas and lots of boats. I used DDG-text-2 to achieve this slide.
Siders Sunday
I feel very fortunate that there is such a beautiful inlet only a few minutes from my home.
Morrill Hall was the University's first newly constructed building, built at a cost of $70,111 and opening on October 7, 1868 as South University Building, or less formally, as South Hall It is the southernmost of the three buildings which comprise the "Stone Row" which forms the west side of Cornell's Arts Quadrangle, all constructed of Ithaca bluestone quarried from the base of Libe Slope.

We spent the day at Taughannock Falls State Park with the splendid 400 foot gorge walls and 215 foot waterfall.
I have been enjoying getting some waterfall shots the past couple of weeks.
I hope everyone enjoys this image! :D
The Flickr Lounge-In A Row
Went grocery shopping on Saturday and I drive past this beautiful scene every time I go into Ithaca.
ODC-Rose
Again we had a very intense sunrise. This time there was a little fog present and the steam rose above the pond in my neighbour's yard across the way.
ODC-This Is What Happens When...You Get Up Early!
Intense is an understatement regarding this morning's sunrise. We are under a Winter Weather Advisory and might see 1-3" of snow, but more could fall. This sunrise lasted about 5 minutes and then disappeared.
Sliders Sunday
I snapped this photo in downtown Ithaca, NY, of the inlet a few days ago. This is one of my favourite places to take photos.
Fenced Friday
I discovered this area between the Green Star Co-op where I shop and the waterfront of Cayuga Lake.

ODC-Many Directions
This photographer was trying to get photos of Joe's Italian Restaurant in Ithaca, NY. He tried to take the photo from a few different directions and settled for the middle of the intersection. He ended up leaving before he got the shot.

Tree-mendous Tuesday
I live about 3 miles from the city of Ithaca, NY. and this beautiful inlet is at the entrance to the city.
Weather
This makes getting up in the morning worthwhile! To this from the front yard of my home. I can never get enough of this sort of thing!
ODC-Calm & Comforting
It's hazy in the Valley this morning. I love this view I find it so very peaceful. I feel so blessed being able to see it on a regular basis. This year the scenery has been spectacular!
Truck Thursday
We see a lot of big rigs driving through the city due to no by-pass any where near us.
Truck Thursday
We see these from time to time traveling through downtown. This one was probably going to pick up a few more cars along the way.
ODC-Childhood Memories
When I was small, around three, I remember wanting to spend a lot of time outdoors. I'd often go across the street by myself, sit in a big field, and enjoy nature.
I was up very early this morning taking this photo. It lasted about 3 minutes, then was gone! I love the beautiful sunsets here in the Finger Lakes.
Thanks, Everyone for the wonderful comments!
Sliders Sunday - In The Style of Rembrandt
Snapped this at Stewart Park here in Ithaca, NY. I love the deep rich tones of Rembrandt's landscapes and tried to emulate it in this slide.
This is where the lake narrows and flows right into Ithaca. I love taking photos here, it's such a pretty area.
Sliders Sunday
I love seeing this each time I drive downtown. I used an actual photo and then put it through the DDG to achieve this photo.

ODC-You're Getting Warmer
Well, we had quite an intense sunrise and it is saying a change in the weather is ahead. It is supposed to warm up to the 40's. We seem to be going through a lot of freeze and thaw cycles.
Sliders Sunday
Stewart Park, Ithaca, NY. I kept most of the photo as a painting but did some editing on the people, a tree trunk, houses, and the shore.
ODC - Exaggerate
Well, the sunrise was amazing this morning, and I did slightly exaggerate the colours but not a whole lot. That's the city of Ithaca where the lights are. We are in for a dilly of a snowstorm this weekend. Looks like it's "Hunker Down" time again!
The Flickr Lounge-Paths
This is where the Ithaca Farmer's Market is held. I love visiting this place because it's right on the water.
