The lower latitude of the setting sun in winter brilliantly isolates the Mountain of the Sun in this image from the bank of the Virgin River.
At it's peak, Mountain of the Sun reaches 6722', which is about 2500' above this view point. The cool waters of the Virgin River flow through Zion Canyon, continuing to carve this gorge deeper and bringing ever more rocks into the stream.
Although the Lower Emerald Pools Trail is currently closed, the bridge across the Virgin River from the National Park Lodge remains open and allows one to reach this spectacular vantage.

I like to isolate myself from the world from time to time, I like to listen to my thoughts and repeat that phrase that we sometimes say "I'm fine".
I like to lose myself in the silence or in the music and redecorate those empty spaces when my desire and my dreams lose intensity.
When doubts corner me, I go to that place to remind myself that I can and always will.

36:52 Minimalist – Isolate your subject using the minimalist approach.
This one was quite a challenge for me, wasn't at all sure what to do. I took an image I shot of the pier at Cates Park in North Vancouver, and in post processing, took it down to bare bones.
Also a late edition for Slider Sunday.

The Japanese Maple has to be one of the world's most beautiful trees. Isolating this particular one in the garden from a distance was a rather tricky predicament. I shot this back last fall and am now finally publishing it to this page. Maybe it's the emotional pull on this night of a world that seems so far away.
After a year of hardship on gardening, finally I have some decent photos to share from my garden. Sigh, my arms are still in pain due to the "over-work" on the garden.

These supports are under the Christchurch Art Gallery. These are base-isolaters so the building floats and slides on rubber during an earthquake.
Look up! I think it was the "Warning of Death" signs that made me look up at the isolators at the Strontian electricity sub-station. It was the colour of them that really attracted me, but not enough to touch them. If only they glowed at night they would look even better.
