Frank Kocsis, assistant fire chief of Whispering Pines Fire Department takes a breather from joint mechanical breaching training for the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, Aug. 12, at Fort Bragg. The fire department helped provide technical training about lowering "patients" from elevated positions and gaining access to interior and exterior walls during the training, which reinforces a community relationship between Fort Bragg and its neighbors.

The United Service Organization of North Carolina celebrated its 75-year anniversary, Feb. 6. To celebrate the occasion the USO-NC Fort Bragg Center, provided a cake
that was equal to 75 sheet cakes and could serve 1,000 people. USO-NC has five centers located throughout the state, including the Fort Bragg center, which provide support,
services and the comforts of home in a welcoming atmosphere that demonstrates gratitude for the troops and their Families. For more information about USO-NC, visit

Fort Bragg Soldiers and Family members in the process of transitioning out of the
Army gathered at the Iron Mike Conference Center for a Job Fair, April 28, for a two day
event aimed at assisting participants meet potential employers. The event was
deemed a success by organizers.
Soldiers compete to earn the Expert Field Medical Badge, Nov. 7, at Fort Bragg.
Tasks for the badge include combat lane testing, a 12-mile ruck march, and a written
test. The EFMB recognizes Soldiers who attain proficiency as field medics. This year's
event is hosted by the 44th Medical Brigade.
The community enjoyed international food, dance and music during the 38th annual International Folk Festival at Festival Park in downtown Fayetteville, Sunday. The two-day event included a parade of nations on Saturday and performances from international musicians throughout both days. The 82nd Airborne Division Band entertained the crowd with two different performances - rock and fusion music on Saturday and jazz music on Sunday. Crowds enjoyed food from over 30 countries prepared by local residents from around the world.

The 82nd Airborne and 3 PARA boxed it out in a nine bout tournament during competition for the Tripoli Cup at the Ritz-Epps Sports Complex. There were over 3500 British and American troops in attendance at the match, April 22.
